decals
This Canadian company have re-issued their
RCAF Beaufighters decals using the latest
printing technology under the title Canadians
in Coastal Command.
A considerable amount of research has gone
into these decals, as the instruction sheet will
explain. The marking detail on these machines
is complicated as
three of the four
aircraft depicted
had code letter
variations over
their service lives.
Not only is all this
explained but also
the rocket and
rocket rails carried
on these aircraft
are illustrated on
the instruction
sheet, including
the three types of rockets used. More
information on these aircraft can be found in
their book Canadian Aircraft of WW2.
At the moment these decals have been issued
in both 1/72 and 1/32. All the aircraft are from
404 Squadron and are as follows:
• Beaufighter TF.X LZ451 (3 variations)
• Beaufighter TF.X NE355 (2 variations)
• Beaufighter TF.X NE825
• Beaufighter TF.X NV173 (2 variations)
Decals are available from Hannants in the UK,
Linden Hill in the US, and the company has a
website at www.aviaeology.com

Rapidly becoming a first port of call for nose-art
type decals, Kits-World have passed on some of
their latest releases, and as usual they are of
superb quality in both design and print, and offer
some very interesting selections. The 1/144
range is expanding, and while it is entirely
reasonable to expect these will be scaled-down
versions of existing sheets, one can only hope
that they will keep up the good work. The old
LS Jaguar is still available in the small scale,
and while it is not a quick build, it is chiefly the
lack of available decals that makes it a problem
– few of the kit boxings have anything usable,
so Kits-World’s Operation Granby Desert Cats
would be a useful addition. Then some Desert
Storm Tornados would be nice...

The reproduction of the artwork on these sets
really is quite remarkable. Highly
recommended, and we hope they keep on
producing sheets of this quality. Check out the

SAMI had the pleasure of
renewing our acquaintance with
Uschi’s proprietor in Nuremberg
this year, and were pleased to
receive a set of the new wood
grain decals produced in
association with Ronny Bar of
Wingnut Wings fame. The
package – available in both 1/72
and larger – includes two sheets of fine grain wood decal
using the original pattern as seen in the Wingnut colour
artworks. Sheets offer both pale and rich shades, and are

This really is a remarkable
product, and a look at the
Uschi website will give you
some insight into what can be achieved with its help.
