PASTOR’S PAGE
I am very excited about what God is going to do in and through Locust Hill during this upcoming church year! I thank
the Lord that He has allowed our family to join this church family in serving together during “such a time as this.” I truly believe
that God has been at work putting pieces together behind the scenes to take our church to new heights in making disciples and
making a difference.
The Lord has put on my heart the sermon series, Expecting the Supernatural from the life of Elisha to lead us into
this new church year. In 2 Kings Chapter 3, His people are waiting on God’s Word. In verse 16 God says, “Make this valley full
of ditches.” Keep in mind that these people were standing in the middle of a desert with
no rain clouds in sight. God told them, and I believe He wants to say to us as a church
“If we want to see God move

in this upcoming year, we

preparing a ditch to hold the rain that He wants to send.
We have tried to prepare in this manner in the area of Sunday School. The

in a smaller group in Sunday School this year. Rev. Jason Farr is leading a new Sunday
School class in the sanctuary at 9:45 a.m. that is open for anyone not currently
connected to a class. We have 9 new teachers in the Preschool department, and teachers that have felt God’s call to serve in
new ministries. We are expecting God to move in this area!
Another area that we are preparing for God to move is in the area of missions. The highest Lottie Moon Christmas
offering that Locust Hill has had in the past 20 years is $28,969. It is time for that amount to be surpassed. Let’s unite to provide
no less than $30,000 for the advancement of the Gospel this Christmas season. Our leadership is also already praying about
where God might send our church family on mission with the Gospel in 2016. Join us as we pray and seek God’s direction.
Let’s show God by our faith that we expect to see Him do great things this upcoming year. Grab a shovel church family
and let’s dig some ditches as we prepare for Him to send the rain!

Wednesday Night Bible Study Options For Adults
September 9th – October 21st
Option #1 – FRESH ENCOUNTER
Led By Pastor Stephen Cannon & Ruth McWhite
Will Meet Upstairs in COED 3 Sunday School Room
Fresh Encounter by Henry Blackaby,
Richard Blackaby and Claude King
guides believers through the biblical
pattern of experiencing God’s
presence, which leads to revival in
the church and a spiritual
awakening in the world. As
churches today search for the
right ministry to reach their
community, this study will help them
return to their “first love” of Jesus Christ
so He can work powerfully in them and through
them. Fresh Encounter is designed to aid churches and
individual believers to return to a faithful relationship with God
and become catalysts for revival.
Option #2 – Contending for the Faith: A Study of Jude
Led By Associate Pastor Jason Farr
Will Meet In The Fellowship Hall
The amazing one
chapter Book of Jude
teaches us much
about God's
character &
faithfulness, in
addition to how we
are to CONTEND
FOR THE FAITH we have in
Christ Jesus. Jude reveals insights
about Satan, demons, angels, and the return of
Christ! In some ways, Jude is a lot like another New
Testament book, 2 Peter, because it focuses on false
teachers who have infiltrated the church.
CHURCH LIFE
Church-Wide Picnic, Cookout
& Family Fun Day
Friend Day Set for
Sunday, August 23
“Friend Day” is coming Sunday,
August 23rd, and we are encouraging
everyone, no matter your age, to bring a friend with you to
Sunday School. If you think of it this way, our church is
just a few weeks away from doubling in size if each of us
just brings one friend with us on August 23rd. Let’s see if
we can have >210 people in Sunday School and >350
people in our morning service.
Not only that, but let’s pray God will bless those
who come. For our friends who may give us the excuse
that they have a hard time getting up for Sunday school or
church services, we will have coffee, juice & doughnuts in
the fellowship hall from 9:15-9:45 AM to make it easier for
them to come. Sunday school will be 9:45-10:30 am and
the morning “Friend Day” service will be at 10:45 am. I
hope you will find a friend to bring with you!
Sunday, August 30 (4:30 until Dark)
Lake Robinson Picnic Shelter
Please bring your favorite Side Dish & Drink. The church
will provide the rest. We will plan on eating at 5:30. There
will be plenty of family-friendly games & activities.
Don’t forget your lawn chairs!
New Sunday
Night Series
begins Sunday,
September 13th
@ 6:00 pm
Sunday,
September 20th
10:45 am
On Sunday morning,
September 20th,
Locust Hill will be joining thousands of other churches across
America for “Back To Church Sunday", a special day where
we will invite un-churched people in our community to come
give church a try! We will have a special service to welcome
these guests and make them feel comfortable. Begin praying
for those you will invite to Back to Church Sunday!
Want To Start A Men’s Life Group?
The purpose of this group would be to take a further step of commitment toward 1) growing as a disciple of Christ;
2) engaging God’s Word on a daily basis; 3) fostering encouragement and accountability with a team of 4-6 same-gender
friends who build trust in sharing their prayer needs and lives with one another.
The group would meet once a week to share insights, pray for one another, and simply live life together. The goal is to grow
together as disciples while building Godly habits through engaging God’s Word. If you are interested in being a part of a
Men’s Life Group, please contact Jason Farr.

Cody. They live in the Blue Ridge community and are members of Clearview Baptist Church.
CHURCH LIFE
Sunday School Promotion Day &
Back to School Emphasis
Sunday, August 16 @ 9:45 & 10:45 am
This new church year is setting up to be our best year ever in Sunday School @
Locust Hill! We have revamped our Preschool Department, recruited new teachers for new and continuing classes and
have set a goal to have greater than 210 people involved in Sunday School this year.
Sunday, August 16th begins the process for achieving this goal. New classes will begin, children and students will promote
up to their new age/grade level and a new format will be in place for Preschool. This new format includes having
permanent teachers assigned to each Preschool class for the 2015-2016 church year. The class structure is as follows:
PRESCHOOL CLASS
0-18 months
NEW TEACHERS
Permanent:
Jennifer Farr, Katie Black, Jennifer Grissop
Rotating: Angie Black & Mendy Smith
19-36 months
Jennifer Westmoreland & Lindsey Brown
3K
Joni Greene & Melanie Huff
4K/5K
Renita Crain & Apryl Rochester
This new setup will strengthen our foundation for Sunday School across the board and will enable the preschoolers to be
nurtured in a familiar setting on a consistent basis. We are so thankful to those who have previously served so faithfully on
a rotation basis in the past. We could not be where we are today without your dedication and support and for that we say,
“Thank You!”
If you are not involved in a Sunday School class, now is your time to get involved. There is a class for everyone. Come and
be a part of something great!
