THE BUSHNELL
LEGACY
SOCIETY
Remember The Bushnell
B
y including The Bushnell in your will, you can enrich
and delight future generations! It’s simple to do, too – by
designating a specific dollar amount or asset, or a
percentage of your estate.
If you’d like to add a bequest to The Bushnell to your will, here are
a couple of important things we’d like you to have… our legal name
and address – The Horace Bushnell Memorial Hall Corporation,
166 Capitol Avenue, Hartford, CT 06106… and our heartfelt
thanks – when you include any gift for The Bushnell in your estate
plans, you will be welcomed into The Bushnell Legacy Society, a
group of individuals whose generosity will impact our community for
generations to come.
For more information or to speak with us in confidence about
leaving a bequest to The Bushnell, please contact Ellen Nattila at
860-987-6071 or at [email protected]
Our founder, Dotha Bushnell Hillyer, began a
tradition of legacy giving that has endured at
The Bushnell. Do what Dotha did… remember
The Bushnell in your will.

MESSAGE FROM THE
PRESIDENT
& CEO
The Blockbusters
Wicked is back!
There are
certain shows that
audiences can’t get
enough of. You can’t
always predict which ones will reach
blockbuster status when they first open on
Broadway, but if we’re lucky, every few years
another big show takes New York by storm
and becomes the must-see production of
the season, with tickets nearly impossible
to come by. A tour is announced, and our
programming department goes into high
gear to make sure The Bushnell is on the
production’s itinerary. You can tell if a show
is going to achieve that rare staying power
of a true blockbuster if, just a week or so
after the production leaves Hartford, our
patrons are asking me, “When are you
bringing back . . . ?” And you can fill in the
blank with Wicked or Jersey Boys or Lion
King or Book of Mormon. This season, we’re
thrilled to have Glinda and Elphaba back
on (and above) the stage of the Mortensen.
Something tells me it won’t be their last visit!
Of course a steady diet of blockbusters
would be like eating nothing but candy,
so we work to balance what we offer on
our stages to appeal to audiences of all
tastes. Enough Broadway for a while? How
about a night of music with the Hartford
Symphony Orchestra, or an always lively
and thought-provoking discussion offered
by The Connecticut Forum? This season at
The Bushnell is especially rich in its depth
and variety of offerings. And tickets make a
great gift -- as we head toward the holidays,
visit our revamped website, bushnell.
org, and take a look at the multitude of
entertainment we’ve got happening in our
halls. Blockbuster or not, there is sure to be
something of interest for almost everyone on
your gift list.
Thank you, as always, for visiting and
supporting The Bushnell. We truly appreciate
your time, interest, and generosity.

how to dress like a young and relevant person, fax machines and other obsolete

criticism of Ayn Rand, and how to spend your time when the world did not end like
you were certain it would on December 21, 2012, as the Mayans predicted.

noon (on Bushnell-ticketed
performance days only). The
Box Office remains open 30
minutes after curtain for all
performances. Telephone (860)
987-5900, Fax (860) 987-6080.
A telecommunications device
for the deaf (TDD/TTY) can be
used to communicate with The
Bushnell Box Office by calling
(860) 987-6097. Tickets, news
and information are also available
online at www.bushnell.org
24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
Parking
Secure and well-lighted parking
is available in the State of
Connecticut parking lots along
Capitol Avenue. For patrons
displaying a valid accessible
parking permit, there are a
number of parking spaces
available within the State of
Connecticut Public Health
Laboratory parking lot. Please
look for prominently displayed
signage. Spaces are available on
a first-come first-served basis. In
addition, valet parking is available
for most evening and weekend
performances at a cost of $10
per vehicle. The valet parking
service is located on Trinity Street.
Excludes weekday matinees.
Accessibility
The Bushnell is equipped with
ramps, restrooms, elevators
and seating areas that can
accommodate patrons with
disabilities. When ordering
your tickets, be sure to tell
the Box Office of any special
requirements. Access guides
are available at the Customer
Relations Desk.
Persons who are
Hearing-Impaired
Infrared (ILS) headsets and neck
induction loops are available at
the Customer Relations Desk to
assist with sound amplification
and clarity. A driver’s license or
other form of photo ID must
be presented.
Behind the Scenes
at The Bushnell
Bushnell tours are given by
appointment. Please call (860)
987-6033 to schedule a tour.
Café
Visit our café for a quick
bite before the show. The
café features soups, salads,
sandwiches, pastries and more.
The café is open one hour prior to
most shows.
In Case of an Emergency
Exits are indicated by signs
located above the theater
entrances. For your safety, please
check the location of the exit
nearest your seat. In the event
of an evacuation, Bushnell staff
and volunteers are available to
assist you.
Disruptive Behavior
Any patron who poses a health
or sanitary risk; disturbs other
patrons; causes damage to The
Bushnell property; or does not
cooperate with staff and security
personnel will be asked to leave
the venue.
Electronic Devices
Cellular phones, pagers and
other electronic devices should
be silenced prior to entering the
theater. Text messaging and the
use of other devices that cause
unnecessary light are prohibited
in the theater.
Late Arrival
Late seating will be at the
discretion of the production
company, and requires that late
audience members wait to enter
the theater until a designated
break in the performance.
For your convenience, closed
circuit televisions are located
in the lobbies.
End of Performance
For your safety and the safety
of your fellow patrons, please
do not leave your seat until the
house lights have been turned
on. Not only is it dark, but it is
inconsiderate to others, including
the performers.
Children
Everyone attending performances
at The Bushnell must have a
ticket, regardless of age. To
ensure optimum enjoyment for
all patrons, we recommend that
children under 5 only attend
shows in the Robinson & Cole
Family Series and The Bushnell
Children’s Theatre. The Bushnell
staff reserves the right to ask any
parents/guardians whose children
cause disruptions during a
performance to leave the theater.
If you have any additional questions or comments regarding Bushnell services,
please contact Customer Relations at (860) 987-6059.
