Land Rights in Customer Connections Land Rights in Customer Connections IMPLEMENTATION OF POLICY: • Following receipt of consultation responses SPEN have: – Implemented the policy and have engaged with developers on this basis. – In simple terms, the policy for the duration of the land rights will be commensurate with the developers planning consent. – This means SP Energy Networks will accept time restricted rights just to serve the connecting customer. – The land rights will still be secured via a lease/sub lease model. – Where a further customer requires connection, they will be responsible for securing their own land rights. – The developer will always have the opportunity to procure these land rights for SP Energy Networks. Where use of statutory powers is required, notice must be given and an understanding of the impact on project timescales have to be understood and accepted. – There are a number of practical considerations that this model also requires to address and this can only be achieved by early engagement.
