315/25-kV Saint-Jean Substation and 315-kV - Hydro
315/25-kV Saint-Jean Substation
and 315-kV Supply Line
ADVERTORIAL
Hydro-Québec plans to refurbish Saint-Jean substation and convert the current voltage to 315/25 kV.
Given that the facility is over 50 years old, most of the substation’s 120/12-kV equipment must be replaced.
The project also calls for the construction of a new 315-kV line, about 3 km long. This line will be built in a
right-of-way which already contains a 120-kV overhead line and is wide enough for the 315-kV overhead line.
Proposed landscaping and
recreational facilities in the existing
right-of-way between Saint-Jean
and des Sources boulevards
The existing right-of-way could be
improved thanks to a forward-looking
and sustainable project to create
landscaping and recreational facilities
between Saint-Jean and des Sources boulevards.
In collaboration with the city of
Dollard-des-Ormeaux, Hydro-Québec
intends to create a model right-of-way.
Once commissioned, the substation and its supply line will
meet the short- and long-term electricity needs of the area
they serve. Commissioning is planned for spring 2019.
Commissioned in 1957, Saint-Jean substation is located in
Dollard-des-Ormeaux, at the intersection of Saint-Jean and
De Salaberry boulevards. It currently supplies part of the
cities of Dollard-des-Ormeaux, Pointe-Claire, Kirkland
and Beaconsfield.
