Ercole Marelli
Ercole Marelli is an Italian engineering and metalworking company,
founded in 1891 by the homonym businessman.
The story…
When it was just born the company used to produce electro mechanic
devices and five years later also the air agitators, today's fans.
On February 28th 1900 it becomes a limited partnership (S.A.S.), in
December 1905 it opened a new factory in Sesto S Giovanni (MI) producing
small electric motors, centrifugal electro-pumps, fans and transformers.
Between 1906 and 1911 the number of the employees increased from 500 to
1500. In 1920 it becomes a joint-stock limited company. In 1922 the
company is inherited by Fermo Marelli, Ercole Marelli's son.

In the 30's it was strongly enhanced
the production of heavy machinery
such as generators and transformers,
command systems for rolling mills
for the main producers of steel in the
world, ship propulsion machinery and
equipment for trains, electric pumps
for water supply and drainage works,
small fans, medium and large. Before
the Second World War, the employees
were over 5000 people.
During the 60's the Ercole Marelli
exports high-power locomotives for
the railways of Chile and diesel –
electric locomotives for the railways
of Argentina reaching the top of the
employment with 7100 employees.
The accomplishments of the company are present in
many works for the mass transport such as traction
drives for the Milan metro and later becomes the first
Italian company to offer the power drives for chopper
locomotive.
Starting from 1968, following a renovation which was
necessary to face the falling prices in the
electromechanical field, Ercole Marelli was placed in
liquidation and in March 1981 the fans division was
purchased by MARELLI VENTILAZIONE with
headquarter in San Martino Buon Albergo.
The company today…
Is carrying on the work started by its founder Ercole Marelli, who, after having started the production of
electrical motors in the ventilation field, coupled the motor directly to the fan.
There is no field of application from conditioning to agriculture, textiles to desiccation, from tanning to
welding, foundries to glassworks to forced draught in mines, from heating plant to ceramic and
brickworks, pasta and cereals, to thermonuclear plants in which Marelli Ventilazione hasn't specifically
designed a ventilator.
With over a hundred years of experience Marelli Ventilazione is today, as in the past, one of the most
prestigious companies in the industrial sector, offering a full range of low, medium and high pressure
centrifugal fans as well as a range of axial fans.
Cad programs are used for product design and CAE programs for engineering as well as programs based
on models developed in-house.
The entire production process is constantly monitored and all our products are manufactured upon plans
according to procedures and instructions foreseen by ISO 9001 normative.
Thanks to our new technical – commercial setup, Marelli Ventilazione is now able to offer its clients
quality, reliability and service.

Low pressure fans
These fans are suitable for: bakery ovens,
spray booths, driers, boilers, solos, cooling
lamps and motors , sheds.

These fans are suitable for: shaving and metal
grit exhaust plans, chemical industries,
pneumatic conveyance of saw dust and
wooden chips, tunnel kiln, mills, silos, mines

High pressure fans

Bakery ovens fans
Low pressure electrical fans ECB – LM – LM/R have a special construction and are used in bakery and
pastry ovens.
These fans are suitable for conveying warmed air flow into the cooking chambers up to a maximum
temperature of 300 °C.
The ECB/M - TREO exhaust fans have a circular outlet and they are suitable absorb the steam away from
the oven at maximum temperature of 80 °C.
VA RANGE
Axial fans
The axial fans of VA57C range are suitable for the transport of clean air up to 40° C if they are coupled to
a motor, and up to 80°C if they function with a belt transmission. The minimum operation temperature,
using normal motors, is of -25°C. The flow rate is from 0.5m3 /s to 80m3 /s. The total Pressure goes up to
110 mmH2O.They are used as parts of ventilation and air conditioning systems and they have, comparing
to the radial fan, minimum dimensions and maximum installation easiness. The operation to horizontal
axes is accepted as well as that to vertical axes. The normal direction of the air is from the impeller to the
motor. It is possible to invert the flow direction reversing the rotation direction of the motor and reversing
the impeller on the shaft.
Heavy duty fans
In addition to its well-known series of standard fans, Marelli Ventilazione builds a wide range of special
fans.
Special fans comprise those which, due to their size or performance levels, must be designed and
constructed strictly according to the specific requirements of the whole plant.
The field of applications and performance ranges is enormous: it is therefore virtually impossible to make
a complete presentation of all possibilities. The aim of this catalogue is therefore to provide the customer a
first overview criteria about the types of equipments which could satisfy the requested performances and
operating conditions.
To this end, the performance range and the intended operating conditions are illustrated for each series.
However, every application is studied by our Engineering Department which, in base of the decades of
experience and the wide field of data available, not only specifies the size of the equipment required, but
selects the most suitable equipment from those which could also provide the required performance.
Correct installation of special fans into the plant often requires the manufacturer to have a detailed
knowledge of the process and of the arrangement of the relative equipment both upstream and downstream
of the fan; he must be also capable to find an optimum compromise between the requirements of the
system and the overall performance offered by each equipment.
