HC Fribourg-Gottéron
HC Fribourg-Gottéron SA: End-to-end mobile solution Swiss champions of customer interaction. For its 75th anniversary, the HC Fribourg-Gottéron ice hockey team treated itself to the runner-up position in the 2012/2013 season. Away from the rink, the team leaves the competition far behind – the traditional club scores points with its fans with free wireless Internet and the interactive content platform. Raphaël Berger CEO of HC Fribourg-Gottéron SA/ Gottéron MJ Sàrl Our solution partner: The initial situation: A new customer experience needed to be created. When the games get underway in the Saint-Léonard ice rink, HC Fribourg- Gottéron’s stadium is usually sold out – with around 7,000 fans there to cheer their team on. The club wanted to provide these fans with another attraction in addition to the thrilling action on the ice – something that had not been available at any other stadium until now: Free wireless access to the Internet and a content platform that would allow the fans to identify even more strongly with their club. The solution: Intelligent power play for fans. Swisscom and its partner ID Mobile presented HC Fribourg-Gottéron with a solution that is unique in Switzerland. Throughout the entire stadium premises, fans, club employees and media professionals can easily use the Internet via free wireless access. Following simple authentication using an SMS code, they can surf at high-speed using their mobile devices. The fast Internet access forms the basis for the ID Mobile content platform. Here, the club provides its fans with exciting opportunities – with their smartphones, they can easily take part in competitions, access the latest information and order club merchandise. With Business Numbers (voice, SMS/ MMS) and easyPay, Fribourg-Gottéron is also striking out in new directions when it comes to invoicing. Fans pay for purchased items easily with their mobile invoice. Customer benefits: A through pass to great business. «We have created a new attraction for our fans», says Raphaël Berger happily. «At the very first game after the free wireless Internet access was activated, more than 1,000 spectators requested the SMS code for logging in. Swisscom bears the cost for all investments in the wireless network itself – we pay a monthly fixed price that also includes operation and maintenance. With the content platform, we are closer to our fans and generate additional income – and this all without any additional administrative effort as our customers automatically pay for their purchases via mobile invoicing. This pioneering project is the future – for next season, we are developing special offers for the platform and will also be selling online advertising space to external partners.» Further information can be found at www.swisscom.ch/corporatebusiness en 06/2013 «We wanted to offer our visitors a new attraction – and we have done so!»
