He rapidly ends-up alone when he flashes on a girl, Alice. He will have then to conquer his shyness in order to seduce her but she only wishes one thing: getting out of this place. CHARACTERS: Louis is a 33 years old French banker who recently moved in Luxembourg. Away from his family and friends he feels lonely in this new town. Naturally shy, hung-up and pessimistic, he attempts to overcome his awkwardness in order to talk to Alice. Alice is a 32 years old Luxembourgish young architect. She just got back from Paris where she has spent her studies. Funny and straight, she is lively but becomes distant and harsh once she gets annoyed. DIRECTOR’S NOTE: This short movie deals with our tendency to lose our composure in front of the person we desire. Filmed from the subjective point of view of Louis and Alice, the story gives the audience the possibility to share their thoughts. This short is also an exercise of style. The subjective point of view, with long “plan sequence” and actors facing the camera, goes along with a subjective “hearing” with a 5.1 sound mix highlighting the differences between their thoughts and the exterior sounds and their positions from the main characters. Thus, the fact of sharing the thoughts and embodying the heroes allows us to play with audience’s expectations: Will Alice be responsive to the charm of a common man?
