Swami Mukundananda is a renowned spiritual teacher from India, and is the senior disciple of Jagadguru Shree Kripaluji
Maharaj. He is the founder of the Yogic system called “Jagadguru Kripaluji Yog.” Swamiji is a unique sanyasi (in the renounced
order of life), who has a distinguished technical and management educational background as well.
Academic and Professional Accomplishments of Swami Mukundananda
Swami Mukundananda completed B.Tech. from the world-renowned Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Delhi. He then did
MBA from the equally distinguished Indian Institute of Management (IIM), Kolkata. After that, he worked for some time with
one of India’s topmost industrial houses. However, distinguished material education and a promising corporate career did
not quench his thirst for knowing the Absolute Truth. The longing for God was so strong that he renounced his career and
travelled throughout India as a sanyasi.

Significance of Mata Ki Chowki
Mata Ki Chowki is one of the important festivals in Northern India. Every day of the year, a mass of humanity
surges up steep pathways that cut across the hillside formile after mile to view Holy Pindis, hid-den in the cave at
Trikuta mountain. During Mata Ki Chowki devotees sing bhajans in favor of Durga Matha who is represented in
many forms like Vaishno Maa, Santoshi Maa, Durga Maa, Kaali Maa, Ambe Maa, Saraswati Maa & Lakshmi Maa.
According to Holy Book Durga Saptashati, that people will be blessed with the accumulation of wealth,
respectable children and the obstacles in their lives will be eliminated if they perform Devi Puja. It goes on to say
that without a doubt, these people will be granted all their desires, wishes and their objectives in life will be
fulfilled. This will be achieved not by personal contacts but only through the divine grace and blessing of Mata Ji.
The duration of a Chowki is usually two to four hours, whereas a Jaagran is all night while sitting in the presence
of the Divine Mother (Mata).

Sri Ramanuja (1017 - 1137 CE), the most important philosopher-saint of Sri Vaishnavam and one of the most
dynamic characters of Hinduism. He was a philosophical as well as a social reformer, displaying a catholicity
that was nearly unparalleled in Hindu religious history before him. He revitalised Indian philosophy and
popular religion so much that nearly every aspect of Hinduism has been influenced by his work. His life and
works show a truly unique personality, combining contemplative insight, logical acumen, catholicity,
charismatic energy, and selfless dedication to God.
The less known fact even among Srivaishnavas about this well known Acharya by whose name Srivaishnava
philosophy is called 'Ramanuja Darsanam' and who is hailed as "Sri Vaishnava Siddhanta Nirdhaarana Saarva

Vaishakha Shukla Chaturdashi is celebrated as Narasimha Jayanti. Lord Narasimha was the 4thincarnation of
Lord Vishnu. On Narasimha Jayanti day Lord Vishnu appeared in the form of Narasimha, a half lion and half
man, to kill Demon Hiranyakashipu.
The combination of Vaishakha Shukla Chaturdashi with Swati Nakshatra and weekday Saturday is considered
highly auspicious to observer Narasimha Jayanti Vratam.
The rules and guidelines to observer Narasimha Jayanti fasting are similar to those of Ekadashi fasting.
Devotees eat only single meal one day before Narasimha Jayanti. All type of grains and cereals are prohibited
during Narasimha Jayanti fasting. Parana, which means breaking the fast, is done next day at an appropriate
time.
On Narasimha Jayanti day devotees take Sankalp during Madhyana (Hindu afternoon period) and perform
Lord Narasimha Pujan during Sanyakal before sunset. It is believed that Lord Narasimha was appeared during
sunset while Chaturdashi was prevailing. It is advised to keep night vigil and performVisarjan Puja next day
