The Order of Mass—29th Sunday in Ordinary Time Procession: Eye Has Not Seen Refrain Eye has not seen, ear has not heard, what God has ready for those who love him; Spirit of love, come, give us the mind of Jesus, teach us the wisdom of God. 1. When pain and sorrow weigh us down, be near to us, O Lord, forgive the weakness of our faith, and bear us up within your peaceful word. Refrain 2. Our lives are but a single breath, we flower and we fade, yet all our days are in your hands, so we return in love what love has made. Refrain 3. To those who see with eyes of faith, the Lord is ever near, reflected in the faces of all the poor and lowly of the world. Refrain 4. We sing a myst'ry from the past in halls where saints have trod, yet ever new the music rings to Jesus, Living Song of God. Our school has two Apple large screen TV’s that allow a teacher to access unlimited educational material from their i-pad. The entire class can see the material and teachers can guide students to access and study the material on their personal i-pads. St. Thecla Football: The JV and DFL teams had byes last week. The Varsity team played St Raphael and lost a tough game in overtime, 26 - 20. All 3 teams come back home this Suday to Notre Dame as they face another rival, St Mary of the Woods. The DFL team plays at 11:00 am, JV at 1:00 and Varsity at 2:30 pm. There are only two more regular season games as the Falcons are making their push towards the playoffs. Please come out to support the Falcons this Sunday for what is sure to be a heated rivalry game. The home crowd has helped us all season long and we will need big fan support as we face the always-tough Knights. 6 Weekly Parish Information Highlights for the coming week Mon. From the prophetic event of Isaiah to Jesus’ understanding of the human condition in Hebrews, concluding with Jesus paying our ransom in Mark, God is in control. There may be failings and misunderstandings along the way. We may move away from God, but at our conversion, God leads us back. Like James and John, we may let greed and power blur our vision of what Jesus wants us to know about the Kingdom; but tirelessly we are taught and re-taught what life in the Kingdom will be. Jesus has paid our ransom to ensure that we will share in the Kingdom. It is not unusual to think of Jesus’ ransom as a punishment that he endured. However, it is more accurate, and more like Jesus, for us to recognize ransom as God’s gift to us. Copyright © J. S. Paluch Co. TODAY’S READINGS First Reading — My servant shall justify many, and their guilt he shall bear (Isaiah 53:10-11). Psalm — Lord, let your mercy be on us, as we place our trust in you (Psalm 33). Second Reading — Let us confidently approach the throne of grace to receive mercy and to find grace for timely help (Hebrews 4:14-16). Gospel — Whoever wishes to be first among you will be the slave of all (Mark 10:35-45 [42-45]). If you have not yet registered, but would like to do so, please contact the Religious Education Office as soon as possible. You can call the Parish Office at 773-792-3077 or e-mail [email protected]. Remember that sacrament preparation is a two year program, so those wishing to receive the sacraments of Communion or Confirmation in 2017, need to begin this year. We are also still in need of volunteers to be aids in the classrooms. If you are willing to share your time to help out, please contact the Religious Education Office. Music Ministry: Choir practice is Wednesday at 7pm in church. Please contact Aaron Dixon for more information. 773-792-3077 x215 [email protected] Eucharistic Adoration: On Wednesdays at 1pm, the church is open for the Exposition and Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament, concluding with Benediction at 3pm. At this time, people come together to pray and be with our Lord Jesus Christ. Consider bringing someone with you...or bring their concerns, fears and struggles and speak with our Lord about them. Scripture is filled with moments when people brought the sick and those burdened directly to Jesus. All women are invited to join us; annual dues are $10.00 or $5.00 for those over 75 years young. Remind your family and friends to join us for the Haunted House.
