Printed on recycled paper You know it’s important to take your child to visit a healthcare provider when they are sick, but did you know that it’s just as important for your healthy child to be seen yearly for a Well Child exam? The American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) encourages these annual visits as an opportunity for the following: • Prevention – Your child gets scheduled immunizations to prevent illness. You can also ask about nutrition and safety in the home, at school and at play. • Tracking growth and development – See how much your child has grown and changed since your last visit, and talk about your child’s development. You can discuss your child’s milestones, social behaviors and learning. • Raising concerns – Make a list of topics you want to talk about with your child’s healthcare provider such as physical development, behavior, sleep, eating, and social relationships. Bring your top questions with you to start a conversation with your provider. • Team approach – Regular visits can create strong, trustworthy relationships between your healthcare provider, yourself and your child. This team approach helps develop optimal physical, mental and social health in children. Does your child play organized sports? Do they participate in activities such as Dance, Martial Arts, Skiing, Snowboarding or other physical recreational activities? It’s always a good idea to make sure they can enjoy these activities safely. Just like a school athlete needs an annual sports physical to take the field, you need to know your child is healthy so they can enjoy these kinds of activities. Youth Health & Wellness Center is open year round and we would be happy to schedule your child a visit for an annual Well Child Exam. Contact our office at 922-6416 to set up an appointment… we look forward to seeing you! DID YOU KNOW??? Take advantage of getting your Sports Physical done early and avoid the fall rush.
