Saturday 18th June 2016, 10am to 4ish.
Announcing a charity Fun-day shoot where experienced
archers can bring along their English longbows and try
their hand at various targets on our archery field. For
archers who don’t have their own longbow there will be some Sherwood Forresters Club
longbows of various draw weights available, and this year we will have a Have-a-Go
section on the shooting line where archery novices and beginners can try their hand
at longbow archery under expert tuition and supervision(for a small donation)
Targets will include many 3D field targets, 128cm straw boss, 28m Japanese style
target, Clout target, Maid Marian’s Favour and many short distance novelty targets.
There will be a charity (£1 for 2 arrows) war arrow distance shoot using an 80 or
100lb bow (Challenge Arrow), charity coin shoot and demonstrations of the armour
piercing abilities of the English Warbow.
Pip Bickerstaffe will be on hand to discuss bows and
bow-making, he will also bring along a selection of

The Longbow Shop will have a stall with a selection of their goods, including
bows, arrows, arrow-making supplies, etc., They will be offering a click and
collect service, buy on the web specify collection at The Gathering on your
order and get those vital supplies with no delivery charge.(http://www.thelongbowshop.com)
DIXIE LEATHERCRAFT will be there selling all manner of leather goods including,
belts, quivers, possibles pouches, etc..
It is also hoped that there will be a custom knife-maker, a leather craft supplier and
possibly a blacksmith but these have yet to be confirmed.
There will be a stall selling comestibles (cakes, pastries, savouries, tea, coffee and soft
drinks) and a general raffle for assorted donated prizes, see gallery below. There will
also be a separate £5/ticket raffle for a longbow donated by Lee Ankers of Heritage
Longbows.
Come along and enjoy a fun day out with fellow English longbow archers.
Entry/shooting fee for archers £5 on the day. Free entry for non-shooting visitors.
PROCEEDS FROM THE DAY WILL BE SPLIT BETWEEN THE YORKSHIRE
AIR AMBULANCE AND ALZHEIMER’S SOCIETY. CHARITIES.
