Prepare for Life
Thanks to the generosity of Dub and Valerie
Stocker, four teenagers will have a chance to
begin new lives in a new home on the Wedgwood
campus of All Church Home for Children. In a
ceremony on Thursday, April 17, 2008, ACH
dedicated the renovated Dub and Valerie Stocker
Home on its 10-acre campus in the Wedgwood
neighborhood in south Fort Worth at 6105
Wrigley Way.
“Dub and Valerie Stocker are a caring couple,”
said Dr. Wayne Carson, Chief Executive Officer
of ACH. “They have given significantly of both
their time and financial resources to support the
work of All Church Home for Children.”

The ACH Residential program, which has been in operation for more than 70 years,
provides for the basic and therapeutic needs of children and youth, ages 4-18. The four
family homes on the Wedgwood campus – Ballard Family Home, Carter Family Home,
Morris Family Home and Doss Family Home – enable ACH to offer a neighborhood
setting for children who are without significant behavior problems but are unable to
live with their parents or guardians because of abuse, neglect, economic or family crisis,
or parental incapacities. The grounds of the Wedgwood campus are landscaped for
recreational use and include a bike path, park and age-appropriate playgrounds for the
36 children who now live there.

Renovations of the Stocker Home, previously
known as the Wrigley Way Family Home, have
been designed to accommodate a new direction in
the focus of this home’s operations. The Stocker
Home will concentrate on preparing four teenagers
for successful lives as adults. The program will offer
structure, guidance and support to teens as they
progress toward becoming independent. In addition
to their basic and therapeutic needs, the program will
teach critical life skills and provide post-secondary
vocational and educational planning and support.
Dub and Valerie Stocker’s generous gift will ensure
that teens for years to come will have a safe and
caring home from which they can successfully
transition into adulthood.
“All Church Home’s willingness to step into a family
crisis situation which threatens a child’s welfare before
the state separates the child from their parents – and to
stay the course throughout the child’s life, preparing them
even through high school – is what Val and I so admire
about All Church Home’s mission. We hope the Stocker
Home will help prepare some of these older children for
productive, well-rounded lives after they leave the caring
arms of All Church Home.” – Dub Stocker
Safety, Hope and Love for All Children
In December 2007, the All Church Home Board of Directors unanimously approved new mission and vision statements
for the organization. After careful consideration during a year-long strategic planning process, the ACH Board of Directors
agreed that a revision was needed to the agency’s old mission statement and that the addition of a vision statement for the
organization was warranted. Dr. Wayne Carson, CEO, stated, “I am excited about the work our Board of Directors did on
this project and the resulting bold new plan for the future of ACH and the children and families we serve.”

Through leadership, research and training, All Church Home will set a recognized example for replicable programs in child
welfare that dramatically strengthen families and reduce child abuse. Our vision is to be the foremost service provider in
the communities we serve so families thrive and children experience safety, hope and love.

Cold Day Highlights Need for New Service
Do you remember what you were doing on February 1,
2007? The All Church Home foster care staff and one
ACH foster care mother remember that day very well.
“It was snowy and bitterly cold,” recalled Toby Owen,
LCSW, Vice President of Residential Services, “and at
6:00 p.m., as the roads began to ice over, a three-day-old
baby girl was placed with one of our foster parents.”
This particular baby girl was born prematurely and
weighed only five pounds. She was suffering from drug
addiction and had extensive medical issues. On that cold,
snowy day, the baby was discharged from the hospital
to begin her life in her new home with her new
foster mom.
Despite her severe medical problems –
which included requiring a feeding tube
– this baby quickly became thought of
as “daughter” and “first grandchild”
in her new home. The baby’s foster
mother and foster grandparents were
committed to creating a long-term,
loving home and future for her.

able to transition smoothly into permanent homes.
“This is a great move for our Foster Care Department
and it will allow us to provide ‘forever’ homes to our
children who are free for adoption,” Toby Owen stated.
“I look forward to our first adoption, which should take
place within the next six to nine months.”
On January 29, 2008, the baby girl celebrated her first
birthday with her foster family. Everyone is hopeful that
within the next several months this little girl will
have a “forever” home with her foster/adoptive
mother and family, with whom she can
celebrate her second birthday and many
more to come.

But, in order for a foster parent to be able
to provide long-term care for a child, the
foster home must be licensed as an adoptive
home. The urgency of the baby’s legal situation
and the foster family’s unwavering commitment to her
prompted ACH to move quickly so the foster home could
become licensed as an adoptive home and the foster
mom could begin to take steps toward finalizing
the adoption.
All Church Home is happy to announce
that we can now provide adoption
services to children in the custody
of Child Protective Services (CPS).
ACH received its updated license
from the Texas Department of Family
and Protective Services on January 28,
2008, stating that we can now provide
both foster care and adoption services.
The addition of adoption services expands All Church
Home’s continuum of care to include long-term
homes for children in CPS custody. Children

ACH Welcomes Tammy Gass
Tammy Gass, CFRE joined the Development team in January as the new Director of Development. She will be carrying out
the philanthropic mission of All Church Home in collaboration with the Vice President of Marketing and Development by
strategizing, developing and implementing ACH’s fund development work plan.
Tammy comes to All Church Home with more than 20 years of experience in philanthropy and non-profit management. She spent the last
eight years working in the Foundation at Cook Children’s Medical Center and was directly responsible for the Annual Giving program. Tammy
is a Certified Fundraising Executive (CFRE) with an MPA in Non-Profit
Management. She has served on not-for-profit boards and also on the
faculty for Rockhurst College, teaching classes in fundraising.
Throughout her career, Tammy has worked with a variety of non-profit
organizations that support the health and well-being of children and
their families. She said that being part of an organization that focuses on
the needs of children is inspiring, motivating and very rewarding.
“I am excited about helping connect donors to All Church Home to
fulfill the hopes and dreams of the children, youth and families it serves,”
Tammy said. “There is a lot of energy and excitement about the growth
and future of this organization and I am looking forward to supporting
All Church Home in its mission.”

Volunteer Highlights
Volunteer Spotlight
All Church Home would like to thank all of our dedicated volunteers who support the
agency with many talents. From landscaping projects to making copies to helping with
special events, our volunteers make an impact on the lives of children and families in
crisis by helping make ACH more welcoming, more efficient and better equipped to
address the variety of needs presented by the children and families served by ACH.
One of these great volunteers is Hanna Erickson. Hanna has volunteered at ACH for
five years. She spends several hours a month organizing the Care Closet at ACH. The
Care Closet is a place ACH clients can come for clothes, hygiene items, food, toys
and other needed items. ACH receives donations from the community and Hanna
works diligently behind the scenes to organize them so they can be easily accessed and
used. Hanna also contributes numerous hours each Christmas to develop and organize
Santa’s Workshop for our youth residents to “shop” in for their family members. Hanna
is providing hope by helping meet the basic needs of many ACH families who face
multiple challenges.

Another invaluable ACH volunteer is Pat Worrell. Pat has been providing
time and energy to ACH for three years. One afternoon a week (and
sometimes more), Pat assists several programs by completing various
administrative tasks from filing to data entry to compiling survey reports.
She is willing to provide whatever assistance she can to help the ACH
staff accomplish the mission of the agency. Staff that has worked with Pat
appreciates her dedication and humble spirit.
“Mrs. Pat provides tremendous support to our In-Home Respite Program. She takes
care of ALL of the filing for our client charts and has been doing this job for years!
In addition to these important duties, we love her friendly smile, uplifting attitude and

The Impact of the Gift of Time

the Wilson Group Home for the
children of Behavioral Care
• 191 Safe Place sites were checked
to ensure readiness for youth
seeking safety
• Youth in the Emergency Shelter
enjoyed home-cooked meals
during the year and on Christmas
Eve and Christmas Day
• Over 300 children opened gifts
on Christmas Day

Good Food, Good Laughs, Good Times
Hoot ’n Holler 6 was a huge success thanks to the leadership of co-chairs Judy Cagle and Susan Miller and their wonderful
committee. More than 300 people attended this sold-out event, raising more than $160,000 to benefit the Residential
programs of All Church Home.
“I really enjoyed being a part of such a dynamic committee that made it fun and easy to raise funds for this amazing charity
and the children and families it serves,” said Judy Cagle, event co-chair. From the great food and atmosphere provided by
Reata to the hilarious entertainment of Four Day Weekend, this event is certainly one you don’t want to miss.

What a Wonderful Christmas!
For some children Christmas is about writing never-ending wish lists to Santa
and then waking up Christmas morning to countless presents and toys. For
others, that is not the case. At All Church Home for Children we make every
effort to ensure that the children, youth and families in our care are able to
enjoy the spirit of the Christmas season. And thanks to the generosity of donors
and volunteers in our community, Christmas 2007 was a joyful and blessed
