Spring 2016 - Camp Lindenmere
April 2016
Connection
The Official Newsletter Of Camp Lindenmere
Dear kids, parents & family,
This week is Tri-State Convention in Atlantic
City, NJ and what that means is that the time
from here until we are moving back to camp
will fly by. Obviously, I/we can’t wait.
It has been a very mild winter in Henryville
(tomorrow is going to be 76°F) and yes
there is more winter ahead but what’s also
ahead is the most exciting time of the year…
getting ready to leave for camp. All you new
parents stay very positive about this summer.
Tell your kids they will have a great time at
camp. Do not let them get into the negatives.
Continue the conversations how lucky they
are to be going and that they will do great,
meet friends, and have so much FUN!! For
me… 90 days and counting!!
Love Always,
Mitch

INTRODUCING A BRAN
THE EXPLORER PROGRAM
Get ready for a science and nature program right here at Lindenmere! Become one with Mother
Nature and think like an explorer!
This program will bring out the science and nature lover in you by incorporating our
already existing Outward Bound, Wacky Science and Rocketry Programs with two brand
new major selections...Natural Science and Eco-ID!
Natural Science: Our new Natural Science program will offer activities like gardening,
terrarium building, small animal collection, scientific sampling, projects, exploration of
trail camera footage and more!
Eco-ID: Our new Eco-ID program will offer campers the opportunity to find a whole
new meaning to their camp experience. You’ll explore the world we live in at camp, the
surrounding ecology of the Poconos and learn all about the fauna, wildlife, and plants
around us. You’ll hike, use binoculars, seek and explore tracks, and much more. Our
campers will be Eco-ID experts by the end of the session.
In Wacky Science and Rocketry our campers will continue to explore new and exciting
science projects, launch their very own rockets and see their ideas come to life in a brand
new location! Our Outward Bound program will continue to excite with orienteering and
fire & structure building. But wait there’s more...we are very happy to announce a new
and awesome addition to the Outward Bound program... GEOCACHING the outdoor
tracking and treasure hunting navigation game! Campers will use maps and GPS’s to
locate all kinds of hidden spots around camp.
Our plan is to have Lindenmere campers explore the natural world to become overall
wilderness exploration champions.
Then.Now.Always!
WHAT’S NEW FOR 2016!
WHAT’S NEW?!
In addition to our brand new, 10,000 square foot state of the art Hockey Pavilion and covered rec center, check out some other new and
exciting things coming your way for summer 2016!
A complete fitness circuit course!
Our goal is to challenge all campers to become interested and inspired to learn about
fitness. A brand new fitness circuit course will offer our campers the opportunity to
experience an entirely new approach to exercise that’s designed to achieve overall
body fitness in the most fun and challenging way. We will be setting up the course on
the upper field and throughout the surrounding woods so that we can integrate both
hills, woods and flat terrain surfaces for varied difficulty.
A Brand new baseball field!
Play Ball! We’re bringing baseball and softball to a new level at camp this summer by
installing a “Home Run” outfield fence and completely restoring the infield. We have
listened to our campers and are removing the grass infield and replacing it with clay.
There might be a couple of other surprises in the area but you will have to wait and see!
Many parents have come to us about offering a healthier option at canteen,
something other than candy or ice cream. We have decided that this year we will
be offering fruit every night at canteen to
make sure everyone has a healthy choice
in addition to camper fan favorites like our
huge assortment of Candy and MiniMelts!
New Elements in Outdoor Adventure! Every year we add a couple new and exciting
elements to the Ropes Course and this year is no different! We are very excited to announce
new daring additions for our adventurers! We will be incorporating a new set of “Swinging
Loops” and a new “DNA Horizontal Ladder” into the South end of the course. These elements
are going to bring a new higher level of challenge for our more advanced thrill seekers!
New Majors
Flag Football: Our athletics department is as popular as ever and we’re always looking to evolve it
further every year! We are psyched to announce for summer 2016 an awesome Flag Football major
where campers will learn the basics & rules of flag football while getting out on the field and practicing
techniques during fun and competitive scrimmages.
Glass Fusion: In this new and exciting art offering, campers will have the opportunity to experience
the magic of glass fusion! Campers will be able to create beautiful and unique glass work in our brand
new state-of-the-art glass fusion kiln. Be innovative and learn to construct your very own projects! Use
your favorite colors as inspiration on things ranging from plates, bowls, chimes, trinkets, individual
designs and more!
