Viti Levu is the largest of Fiji’s 333 islands referred to as ‘the mainland’. It is the hub
of the Fiji Islands with travellers arriving at Nadi International Airport for their first
encounter with the enormous friendliness of the Fijian people. The warm hearted

Dolphin Island - A PRIVATE ISLAND PARADISE

With provision for a maximum of just four guests at any given time, Dolphin Island
offers a rare hospitality experience – your own private island. Warm and friendly Fijian
staff are on hand to look after guests as often or as little as required and each day drifts
seamlessly into the next.
Two plantation-style bures sit side-by-side surrounded by coconut palms, hibiscus and
fragrant frangipani. Wide and spacious verandas encourage outdoor dining, drinks at
sunset and an opportunity to catch the soft tropical sea breeze.
One of the bures is dedicated to relaxing, dining and entertainment. Comfortable
cane furniture and Fijian-inspired interior ensures a casual atmosphere and island-style
living at its best. In the evening candles and kerosene lanterns continue the magic.
Dolphin Island is surrounded by crystal-clear waters so aquatic adventures are
available in abundance; snorkeling, kayaks and a Hobie catamaran are available, with
expeditions to areas or activities further afield readily arranged.
The island is small enough to explore on foot within a couple of hours through shady
paths and sandy trails. There are several vantage points to rest and admire the views
from, including a romantic sleep-out bure, where guests will often retreat for an
afternoon, or spend the night. The days can be whiled away relaxing in a hammock,
lying on a sandy beach and floating in the warm seawater. There is also a dreamy
daybed, swathed in white gauze that can be moved as required – from one venue to
the next.
PS: A minimum three-night stay is required, however that’s not difficult.
The second bure, just a few steps away, contains two comfortable en suite bedrooms
with private balconies, cool tiled floors, pure cotton bed linen and fresh flowers. Both

A series of picture perfect coral atolls and small volcanic islands sprinkled like pearls
through the large lagoons of the Malolo Barrier Reef and Viti Levu. The sea surrounding
these islands is sublime: turquoise coloured and beautifully warm, excellent for
snorkelling and diving and full of sea life. The small islands are encircled by soft, white
sand and the evening sunsets are to die for.

The Somosomo Strait is the stretch of water between the island and Vanua Levu.
The Strait almost single-handedly earns Fiji its title as “The Soft Coral Capital of the
World”. Nearby, the world famous Rainbow Reef and Great White Wall have been
noted in the top 10 Dive Locations in the World. Diving Season: April to October is
the main diving season. July and September offers the best visibility.

Situated high on a bluff on the north of the island, Taveuni Island Resort has
spectacular vistas over the Pacific Ocean and to the surrounding islands, the
position being one of the best on the island. Steps lead to a powdery white beach
below from where you can kayak, swim and snorkel. What makes the North truly
magical is the array of activities one can partake in on this truly natural island, all

overlooks the azure waters and bright blue sky. The décor is tropically inspired;
cool cream tiles, vases of colourful native arrangements and watercolour
paintings. All have king-sized beds and private outdoor showers.
Friends or a family may consider the all-inclusive private Matalau villa for four,
complete with a private plunge pool and waterfall, your own personal chef and

Dining is a special event at Taveuni and apart from shared dining on the alfresco
deck, meals can be taken in romantic locations around the resort; at the lagoon

A Hidden Paradise
Vanua Levu is known for its extraordinary scenery and natural beauty. The rainforests,
reefs and waterfalls are numerous and attract those that love sailing, scuba diving,
snorkelling and hiking on an island less visited than its sister island Taveuni.
The main attraction for visitors is the region from Savusavu east towards Buca Bay, the
closest spot to the colourful corals of the world famous Rainbow Reef. Don’t expect
extensive beaches around the islands however further out of Savusavu there are some
better beaches, such as at Namale Resort & Spa and along the Hibiscus Highway
coast. The climate is tropical year round with the mild dry season being May through
November.
The main towns are Labasa, a sugarcane town on the dry north coast and Savusavu in
the south. The quaint little town of Savusavu is situated on the shores of a protected
deep water harbour nestled on a peninsula which divides Savusavu Bay from the
Koro Sea. Savusavu’s excellent harbour makes it a favourite anchorage for yachtsmen
from around the world. During the sailing season, from May to October, the town’s
restaurants and waterside bars are at their liveliest.
