PONY SWIM & AUCTION EVENT DATES
-Monday, July 25: Come see the famous "Beach Waife" on Assateague Island when
the ponies make their way from the north corral to the south corral via "The Beach. ' Be
there by 6am.
-Wednesday, July 27: 7:00 am-l:00 pm (Approx.): Ponies swim at Assateague
Channel at Chincoteague Memorial Park on the East side of the island. No charge by Fire
Co. for parking or seeing ponies swim but there is NO PARKING at Memorial Parfe. Please
see shuttle info at left. After a brief rest, ponies are herded to carnival grounds.
-THURSDAY, JULY 28: 8 AM TO 12 NOON, Pony Penning Auction of Ponies (yearlings or
younger) owned fay the Chincoteague Volunteer Hre Company.
•FRIDAY, JULY 29: TIME TBA Ponies return to Assateague (swim bacfe)
The first colt ashore (King or Queen Neptune) will be given away at the Carnival
Grounds after the ponies arrive from the Swim. Tune to be announced.

Use of the names of the department/company and its annual pony swim, penning,
auction and carnival, pictures, images and likenesses of the same, for sale or profit
are prohibited without prior written consent by the Chincoteague Volunteer Fire
Company as described under Virginia Code Section 18.2-216.1

The Town of Chincoteague will operate a free of charge shuttle service for
people wishing to participate in pony penning. The shuttle service will
operate only on Wednesday from approximately 5 AM.
The primary pick up point for day visitors will be the Chincoteague High
School as well as several locations through the island for overnight visitors.
A pony swim shuttle sign will be posted at each stop. Passengers will be
shuttled to Memorial FSrk to view the swim. There will be NO parking at
Memorial ferk.
After the swim, passengers will be shuttled either to the carnival grounds or to
their original pick up point. Shuttle time will vary due to traffic conditions.
