This years Opel Motorsport
Club’s three day 25th. Anniversary weekend bash was the best I have ever attended. It 18
was a 3 day non stop E Ticket thrill ride, that began Friday Noon at the Nethercutt
Museum, & continued until Sunday evening after the Fun Run at Boccali’s restaurant. 25
From the entire OMC Picnic staff, to everyone who attended. ‘Thank You’.

To those of you were only able make to make it out for one event, like the Nethercutt Museum
Friday, the Picnic on
Club Calendar
Saturday or for the Fun Run on Sunday. And for those of you were able to stay for all three days. All I can say is, ‘You’ made
this years OMC Event/s the Best Ever. The enthusiasm and love I felt from every one who attended was wonderful. We had
many who volunteered to help each and every day. Those who helped with Picnic setup, helping the Officers, and just being
helpful in so many, many ways. Again ‘Thank You’.
We also had three Special Guest Speaker on Saturday at the Picnic:
Chuck Jordan, Retired GM & Opel Chief Designer late 60’s to early 70’s
Mark Jordan, former Opel, and current auto industry designer
Murad Nasser, Retired Opel Designer, Teacher Pasadena Arts Center
For well over one hour on Saturday, Chuck, Murad and Mark (Chuck’s son) spoke of their days at Opel. Speaking fondly on
how they were instrumental in designing the Opel GT, Opel Manta and many other Opel models. They also brought out some
very rare and never before seen posters & pictures from that era.
I also want to give Special Thanks to:
General Motors, for loaning & displaying the New 2005 Pontiac GTO, with its 400HP 400 foot pounds of Torque 6 speed rear
wheel drive monster driven by Louis V. from the OMC European Chapter.
GM US Public Relations: Klaus-Peter Martin donating the Limited Edition ‘GT Promo’, Books & Press packets.
GM Europe Public Relations: for donating hundreds of Opel Pins and Promo items.
Griots Garage: for donating 40x bottles of ‘Speed Shine’, which were awarded to each Show Trophy recipient.

across California. To those that laid a helping hand when cars broke down, and to those who volunteered their time. To all
those of you who donated & volunteered, there is not enough room to thank, but…....

Still must have a Stock Body and can have any Opel Engine or Transmission you wish. Any Suspension, Brake or Wheel
modification are allowed. Any color is allowed. The end result however should be more Opel than not.

Zenovy J., with his super clean 2.2L Dual Weber Side Hotel. During OMC’s 2000 Picnic this GT was involved in a
severe collision. Congrats’ Dennis for restoring her.

Special Guest Speakers:
On Saturday the 13th. OMC hosted
some very special Speakers .
The speakers were:
Chuck & Mark Jordan & Murad Nasser
Chuck & Murad oversaw, and worked
on the designs for the GT & Manta, at
Opel before & while our cars were built.
Mark Jordan also followed in his fathers
foot steps and worked for Opel. He
currently works in the auto design field
and was involved in the development &
design of the Miata.

Nethercutt & San Sylmar Museum Tours:
On Friday afternoon:
OMC was treated to two
tours. The Nethercutt was the
first tour at noon. The second
was across the street at the
San Sylmar Tower of
Beauty. Forty-nine attending.
The first tour was self
guided, the tour second was
Docent led.
The members viewed
hundreds of rare automobiles
as well as many collections
of self player musical
instruments, fine watches
and many other spectacular
small treasures.

California Historic Bob’s Big Boy:
Friday Evening: Opels traveled in masse, to California’s Historic
and first Bob’s Big Boy. Every Friday night this 50’s style car
diner offers good food, plenty of cars and lots of fun.
Club members enjoyed the never ending parade of cars that entered
& exited the parking lot. The Opels definitely grabbed the attention
of many, and were photographed often. One members Opel GT
gathered a small crowd when the hood was raised.
