Featured Quilter,
Teri Wood
At age 9 Teri was allowed to decorate
her bedroom and became hooked on color,
fabric and design. After her first quilt class
in 1989, Teri went on to explore paper
piecing, trapunto and applique, then on to
contemporary and modern trends, and recently developing new
piecing techniques. Teri now teaches classes and she designed
and pieced our 2016 SOQS Raffle Quilt. Teri’s mantra, inspired
by a famous Will Rogers quote: “I never met a quilter I didn’t like.”

authored books, quilt patterns, produces online tutorials, and
services sewing machines in his studio in Morro Bay, California.
Machine Quilter
Showcase,
Sandy Lachowski
In 1998, Sandy Lachowski, a stay-athome mother making quilts with her 1960
Singer, started longarm quilting with the
support of Barb Schreiner, then owner of BJ's Quilt Basket.
Sandy never took a class but was inspired by her childhood
passion of spontaneous drawing. Sandy bought a Gammill and
started her home business, Best in Show Quilts, doing what she
loves.
A favorite instructor at Quilter’s Affair,
Rob Appell has been teaching in Sisters
and volunteering for the quilt show for
six years. Rob blends his love for the
ocean with his work as a textile artist and

Register your quilts electronically. E-registration information
and instructions will be available on our website in January 2016.
Registration opens February 1st.
Each quilt you’d like to enter in the SOQS requires an original
registration form (which you create online through our website). You
submit your registration electronically and we will handle the printing
in our office. This quilt registration form serves as the show tag which
hangs on your quilt while the quilt is on display. It must be completed
entirely. We accept registration forms until May 31st, or when the
show is full, whichever comes first. After May 31st, we are unable to
accommodate changes to your registrations except to eliminate a quilt
that is already registered. No substitutions are accepted after May 31st.
A quilt is registered when your completed registration information has
been received and we have confirmed your accepted entries. You will
receive an email or postcard confirmation of your entries by June 10.
Paper registration forms: There is a $15 fee for processing
paper forms. You may request paper registration forms by submitting a
request together with your payment to SOQS for a handling fee of $15.
Forms will be mailed on February 1st.
ENTRY CRITERIA & REQUIREMENTS
Please be advised that quilts which fail to follow entry criteria and
registration requirements will be rejected. SOQS reserves the right to
refuse any entry for any reason and all decisions of the Board will be
final.
Each exhibitor may enter a maximum of 10 quilts in the show. Up to
five of those quilts may be for sale.
show OR go to www.SistersOutdoorQuiltShow.org/quiltentryinfo.htm
and follow the instructions for E-registration. An original registration
form is required for each quilt. Information on this form is entered into
our database by staff. Please write legibly; information on this form is
used on the quilt show tag. The “Quilt Story” section of the registration
form is for interesting information about your quilt and is limited to 200
words. We will return forms that are not complete and we do not hold
space for quilts with incomplete registration information. Requesting
a registration packet does not hold space for your quilt(s) in the show.
The deadline to register quilts is May 31st. You will receive an email or
postcard confirmation of accepted entries by June 10.
Sale Quilts:
Each exhibitor is limited to five sale entries. We only accept one
quilt of a given pattern for sale from each quilter. We will not accept
a quilt for sale that was entered the prior year. Photos of sale entries
are required with completed registration information. Photos can be of
the finished top prior to quilting, but please do not send a photo of the
quilt pattern in lieu of a photo of your quilt. SOQS handles all sales and
retains a 30% commission. Checks for sold quilts are mailed within
two weeks of the show date. Quilts entered for sale must adhere to
copyright law. SOQS may purchase your quilt for future resale.
Liability Release:
Quilts in our show are hung outdoors. Each exhibitor must sign a
Release Agreement. An adult is required to sign the release for any
entrant under the age of 18.
Definition of a Quilt for our Show:
A quilt is two layers of fabric with a filling that is stitched together
with lines or a pattern. Quilting may be done by hand or by machine.
Tied quilts do not meet the definition of a quilt for this show.
“Raggy” quilts and quilts made from predominantly preprinted panels
are not accepted. We do not accept raffle quilts from other groups.
Quilts do not need to have a sleeve for our show.
Size:
Quilts must be at least 36” x 36” and may not exceed 104” in width
or length (note: some Special Exhibits have different size criteria). We
cannot accept stuffed animals, tablecloths, pillow shams or other nonquilt items. Shapes other than squares and rectangles are discouraged
and may not be displayed due to difficulty in hanging in our show.
Label:
A fabric label sewn to the back of each quilt is required. The quilt
name and exhibitor’s name on the label should match the information on
your registration form.
Entry Fee:
A $10.00 entry fee is requested per person (not per quilt). Entry fee
can be paid online, by check, or via credit card over the phone. Quilt
registration is not complete until Entry Fee has been received.
Online payment instructions are on our website.
