4xGuard Belly Guard
4xGuard Belly Guard Step by Step Installation mounted on a 2007 WK - CRD by Chirpz The Box arrives.... not too heavy Lots of packing inside. Don't overlook the “tab nut.” I almost threw mine away because it was hidden among the packing. Here are the contents. Two plates, one hardware bag, one instruction sheet and a loose tab nut (clever device). Cool 4xGuard sticker was missing. Jack up the car securely. You will have to wrestle around under there. Make yourself a set of these cool jack blocks. Just drive up on them. I used 2x8x8' Pressure treated. (2 required) One 8' board makes one block. Cut two each 26” 24” 22” 20” Nail together one of each staggered in the front, even in the back. Drive up on them. I have a factory installed engine skid plate and a transfer case skid plate. If you don't have these things may be slightly different. Transfer case skid plate Remove these two nuts Another view of the two nuts. Cheesy Cover Remove two nuts that hold the back end of the front engine skid plate. One on each side. Another view of skid plate nut. There is one on each side. Loosen two nuts at the front of the engine skid plate. This allows the plate to drop down a little bit in the back. You want it to drop about 3” for access. Nut. There is one on each side of the front of the skid plate. Factory installed engine skid plate. Its steel, not the fakey kind. This is my 4xGuard Front Guard See how the skid plate has dropped down in the back. Remove this cheap and cheesy cover plate. It's plastic. Store it away. Cool Jack Blocks Skid Plate dropped down in back. Assemble two halves of belly guard. Use 3 carriage bolts. Finger tighten only. Lift the belly guard with a floor jack, or get a goon to help you. Install two front bolts, and make them semi-snug, not tight! Install two rear bolts and finger tighten. This is tricky if you have a transfer case skid. Be careful not to cross thread them. Use thread locker on all bolts. Take a break for brownies and iced tea Grease spot on forehead Chirpz Tea Fudge Brownie Move your jack to the wing of the belly guard and raise it gently to contact the frame and align the holes. If you have no jack, use a goon. Insert the tab nut into the access hole and position it to receive the bolt. Screw the bolt, with washer into place and tighten to specified torque. Tab Nut with bolt installed. Cool lettering Tighten the 3 carriage nuts to torque. Tighten the rear nuts to torque, then tighten the front nuts to torque. Replace the rear nuts on the engine skid and tighten all 4 engine skid nuts. . Cheap and cheesy cover that is replaced by the belly guard. All done. This is how she looks. It does not cover some of the area that the cheesy cover did. With extra effort you could leave the cheesy cover in place but it was too difficult to please me.
