Last month was filled with Championships, All Star Camps
and TAP Camps in addition to the regular Metro games
and trainings!
4 MWBA players are also going to represent Metro NSW
at the Nationals in Tasmania in July which is very
exciting!
Our MWBA Photo Night was held and we thank all involved for the smooth and timely running
through the schedule!
And, of course, we had our fantastic TRIVIA Night with amazing prizes won and challenging
questions solved, great team work could be observed at every table and a topless Waratah Seniors
Player throwing himself into the ring to auction off some Cricket Memorabilia! Good job, Sam!!!

The biggest THANK YOU goes out to our amazing parent Melinda Graetz, U12B2, who not
only organised many prizes for the evening but was also still seen wandering around the tables selling
tickets and contributing a great article about the evening to this newsletter as well!

NSW PSSA GIRLS BASKETBALL CHAMPIONSHIPS
During the first week in May some of our
MWBA U14 Girls travelled to Berkley to
compete at the NSW PSSA Junior Girls
Championships. The CIS team had the
largest representation of Manly girls with 5
players and MWBA U16G2 Coach Darren
Lawrenson as CIS Coach. They lost their
Semi-Final, but eventually won against
Sydney North and came 3rd in the NSW
PSSA State Championships!
Congratulations, girls!!!

MWBA Bianca Blades, U16G1, and Katie Castle, U18G1,
represented MWBA as part of the Sydney North Team at the
NSW PSSA Senior Championship in Penrith.
Their team won the Championship at Penrith and Katie
Castle has been selected to play in the NSW PSSA State
Team against the independent and Catholic school teams in
July!

MWBA BOYS SUCCESSFUL AT GOLD COAST
Bryn Lynch, U16B1, and Fergus Rogers, U16B3, represented MWBA in the U15B at the National
Christian Schools Games at the Gold Coast in May. Their team won Bronze in a great match which
finished with a buzzer beater 3 pointer to take home the medal for our boys!

Congratulations to the NSW Christian Schools Senior
Basketball team for winning GOLD at the Christian
Schools Nationals Games at the Gold Coast!!!
MWBA was proudly represented by Saxon Saville,
U18B1, and Lachlan Clark, YLM1!!!

MWBA GOING TO TASMANIA
MWBA U16 players Bianca Blades, Gracie Lee, Isaiah Lee and Oscar Dumas have been selected
into the NSW U16 State Metro Teams and will travel to Tasmania at the beginning of July to compete
at the Nationals for NSW!

MWBA TRIVIA NIGHT FUNDRAISER GREAT SUCCESS!!!
Trivia Night Recap
A chilly night didn’t stop the great turnout of parents and players for our annual Trivia
Night at Pittwater RSL Club. We are pleased to announce that we raised $8282.73 on the night
from a combination of ticket sales, raffles and auctions.
We were very fortunate to have some wonderful prizes donated from local businesses on the
peninsula that added to the excitement. All up we received over $5000 worth of prizes to raffle and
auction off. The Fundraiser event was a great example of our club working closely with local
businesses and parents to help raise funds for our representative program.
As far as the trivia was concerned, the competition was tough with most teams performing really
well. A big thank you goes out to the management team from Pittwater R.S.L who generously
donated 6 bottles of wine and two Magnum bottles to the winning table.
We would like to thank the committee for all their hard work in organizing the event as well as the
parents that helped secure wonderful prizes and for everyone who bought and contributed by way of
tickets, raffles and auctions.
We will be putting together a fundraising committee for next year’s fundraising initiatives. If any
parents would like to volunteer please contact Janet Bilton.

MWBA SENIORS WARATAH LEAGUE
MWBA is running a successful Seniors program with their home games being played at NBISC,
Warriewood.
Details about all games will be available on www.nswbasketball.net.au. You can find all home games
until end of May of our Senior’s team listed below.
