Hi and welcome to the 2013 Term 1 class listing for Quintessential Quilts.
We all had a well deserved break over Christmas & the New year, and we hope you
did as well, but it’s great to be open again and back to work.
Sorry we are so late this term. We (Steve & I) have been in Melbourne visiting our
parents.
Just before we closed for the Christmas break, we took delivery of two new full
ranges from Moda.
Both by Barbara Brackman, “The Morris Apprentice” (A William Morris inspired
range) and also “Metropolitan Fair” (an 1800’s reproduction range) both ranges are
40 pieces each, of beautiful colours and prints, and were well worth the wait.
Our usual basic class will all be running this term, Beginners Patchwork, Machine
Quilting and Robyn’s Appliqué and Hand Quilting workshops – always popular.
Judith, Gayle, Kim & Elinor have put together a great range of class for you to try
this term. So please drop into the shop for a cuppa and have a look at the lovely
display of class samples. And while you are there, also check out all the new ranges
of fabrics that just keep arriving. (But don’t tell Steve)
On display in the shop at the moment are all of our Block of the Month Quilts.
Each month we send out the fabrics & patterns to complete the quilts within a
given time frame. A great way to work to a budget.
Award winning Long Arm Machine Quilter Jo Northcott is still the shop quilter
from down in beautiful Albany. With a 3-4 week turn around on Pantograph quilting (all over) She can do magic with her long arm quilting machines. We are a drop
off and pick up point for Jo’s quilting services.

Requirements for class will only be given out on payment of registration.

Class fees are non-refundable.You may transfer to another class up until 7 days prior
to scheduled class.

After that we are committed to run the class so there are no transfers or credits.

A credit will be give for classes cancelled due to lack of numbers.

Have your sewing machine in good working order.

Your own Rotary cutter, Board and Rulers are required for classes.

Please purchase all class requirements prior to day of class.

A fast fun, project. Great to give as gifts, or to decorate your
own home. All you need for this class is a feature, a
background, and two contrast fabrics.

This class cover the basics of cutting, stitching an accurate ¼”
seam, strata’s, and re-squaring blocks. And will set you on the
way to making many beautiful quilts in the future.

Join Gayle and over six weeks learn all the different techniques to
make up the nine blocks in this lovely “Sampler Quilt”. As well as

turn appliqué. At the end of your six weeks you will have a

A great fast project. Ideal to give as a gift, or to dress up your
own table or dresser. Soft and pretty or strong and dramatic
the choice is all in the fabrics you chose.

Another step added to the Disappearing Nine Patch pattern gives
you this bright happy quilt. Finished with a pieced black & white
border and then a bright striped fabric as the outside border.

This quilt is so quick and fun to make that Kim has 3 samples in
the store for inspiration. They are all made using the same technique and a simple 4½” or 6½” magic pinwheel template.

12. Beginners Foundation Piecing (Beg) $50.00

Take your pick and make either of the quilts on display for this
class. A quillow using either picture squares or a feature fabric
for the block centre’s or a more traditional foundation pieced
block in the shape of a strelitzia flower.

This soft, gentle quilt is pretty to look at and pretty easy to make.
Sew the top in the first class and the second class will cover the
scalloped edges which add something special to any quilt.

No handcuffs, sorry! But another beautiful, geometric quilt from
Gayle. 11 fat quarters and a background fabric are you need to
make this little beauty. With a little appliqué added for spice.
