Dufferin County Museum and Archives And they just keep doing more The Dufferin County Museum and Archives is celebrating 100
years of W.J. Hughes "Corn Flower" Cut Glass. In 1914, Dufferin
County's own W.J. Hughes began cutting the iconic "Corn Flower"
pattern on to delicate glass bowls, vases, plates and candlesticks.
To commemorate this truly Canadian pattern, the DCMA will be
hosting an exhibition, "Community Creates Cornflower". Local
artists or "Corn Flower" collectors are invited to create and submit
works, in various mediums, inspired by the Cornflower plant or
flower. This special exhibition will be launched on June 7th. 2014
as part of the DCMA's annual "Corn Flower" Festival and will run
until September 1st, 2014. The museum will be accepting five
pieces from the show entries into their permanent collection.
Several awards will be granted in various categories.
