"Asean" Festival
Cultural Village Foundation-Katara organized the three
days ASEAN festival, that launched with the participation
of the 7 Asian Countries of; Indonesia, Philippine, Thailand,
Malaysia , Brunei, Vietnam and Singapore .
The festival comprised a number of pavilions that display
the handicraft and work crafts. Spacious pavilions were
also allocated to provide Asian delicious spicy Cuisines and
had grabbed a significant turnout of visitors from different
nationalities who were afforded a glimpse about how to
make the most popular recipes.
The festival Pavilions have attracted wide range of female
visitors who were dazzled by the displayed traditional
Indonesian bright colorful and elegant attires.
During
the festival, visitors had the opportunity to proceed to the
information pavilion and get a glimpse on their favorite
touristy destination to the ASEAN countries in order to
enjoy enchanting beauty of nature and genuine customs
and traditions of the ASEAN countries.

The Cultural village foundation - Katara presents the
Borusan Quartet and Ozgur Mert Esen on Piano as they
take you in a journey exploring music from Local to
Universal. Considered as one of the important interpreters
among the new generation of Turkish pianists Ozgur
Mert Esen, graduated from renowned St. Petersburg State
Conservatory with distinction. Esen is the prizewinner of
several National and International Piano Competitions and
performs in globally acclaimed venues and festivals.

The Cultural Village Foundation - Katara, in collaboration
with the Ukraine embassy in Doha, has inaugurated ‘The
National Treasure’ exhibition by Ukrainian artist Andrey
Chornovil, and the ‘Children are our future’, exhibition
presented by Kiev Palace of Children and youth. In this
respect, Ukrainian artist Andrey Chornovil, said that
the idea of launching the exhibition was first emerged
when he visited Qatar for the first time where he found a
unique atmosphere of life. Through the exhibition, Andrey
Chornovil reflected his feeling through the embodiment of
man to mankind, nature and common values, in order to
achieve the cultural and artistic development.

of the Republic of Poland presents A musical journey
through Europe on May 06,2015 in the Drama Theater
Celebrate Europ Day with us in Doha. Europe Day held on
9 May every year celebrates peace and unity in Europe.
The date marks the anniversary of the historical 'Schuman
declaration'. At a speech in Paris in 1950, Robert Schuman,
the then French Foreign Minister, set out his idea for a new
form of political cooperation in Europe, which would make
war between Europe’s nations unthinkable.

"Islamic Geometry" Workshop

A practical introduction to the language of symmetry in
Islamic geometric patterns. Participants will construct
classical patterns using traditional drafting techniques of
compasses and ruler. A new pattern will be done weekly,
so participants are invited to attend multiple sessions.
Suitable for all levels; new students interested in exploring
the beauty of Islamic patterns as well as students with past
experience wishing to practice their skills. Materials will be
provided.

"Fortress of war" Film

Movie Brief: A 2010 Russian movie based on true story
during the world war two in June 1941 when the Nazis
invade the Soviet Union; the Russian troops were forced
to struggle together with civilians for 9 days in bloody war
against the attackers. The story tells through 15-year old
boy Sasha Akimov perspective and his struggle during this
futile war. Fortress Of War is certainly one of the best war
drama movies ever made

"El Meyna" Competition

Embodying its purposes to revive the legacy of our
ancestors, Katara - the Cultural Village is all set to host El
Meyna (Seaport) competition, a diving contest for Qatari
nationals, for the second time for youngsters aged between
10 and 14 years on condition to pass the as swimming,
diving and health tests.
The event will start on Thursday 21 May 2015 , as the
Dhows will leave Katara Beach at 4 pm and head towards
Bari Al Mafras (AlOsairi) Doha inlet. The trip will continue
until 23 May then the closure ceremony will be celebrated
at 4 pm on Katara beach.
The main purpose of El Mayna is to get the youths used to
the sea by diving and getting the pearls. The competition
is also aimed at enlightening the youngsters about how
their forefathers lived, as the participants will experience
life in a dhow, They will fish, clean the fish and cook it in
the traditional manner.

On the occasion of the week of National Festivities of
Argentina, the Cultural Village Foundation –Katara- and the
Embassy of Argentine Republic are hosting Eduardo Tami´s
trio on May 21st, 2015, in the Drama Theater at Building 16,
at 19:00 h.
This instrumental trio (a flutist, a guitarist and pianist)
will play traditional and modern tango, “milongas”, waltz,
“candombe”, “chacarera”, “zamba”, and other Argentine
musical compositions.

"Secret of Westerplatte" Film

Outside the Law (French: Hors-la-loi, is a 2010 drama film
directed by Rachid Bouchareb, starring Jamel Debbouze,
Roschdy Zem and Sami Bouajila. The story takes place
between 1945 and 1962, and focuses on the lives of three
Algerian brothers in France, set against the backdrop of the
Algerian independence movement and the Algerian War. It
is a stand-alone follow-up to Bouchareb's 2006 film Days
of Glory, which was set during World War II. Outside the
Law was a French majority production with co-producers
in Algeria, Tunisia and Belgium.

Movie Brief: This harrowing Polish film is an epic
dramatization of the first battle of World War II. The Battle
of Westerplatte that began on 1 September 1939 will forever
be remembered as the one that announced the beginning
of the Second World War in Europe. Over one week, fewer
than 200 Polish soldiers fought under heavy bombardment
against the supreme might of the German army and in the
process came to symbolize the power of resistance. Pawel
Chochlew’s new film is a dramatic depiction of the horrific
struggle and also the moral crises faced by those involved..

"Best Maqid" Competition
Al-Gannas Qatari Society
Al-Gannas Qatari Society is set to organize “Best Maqid”
Competition to evaluate and assess the best farming and
growing environment of Falcons. registration commences
on 19th April 2015. The committee will make two
inspection tours.
Followed by tow round of inspection:
First round 24th May
Second round 24 August
The molting season is the period which the falcon needs
to finish its molting.
In captivity, the falcon needs to live during this period as
close as possible to that when was living in the wild, with
respect to the place, environment and feed.
Revisiting the Nakkashane
Manuscript Illumination

This is a foundation course, which introduces participants
to the techniques of Manuscript Illumination. Students
can expect to explore the historical developments
of the Nakkashane Ottoman Atelier and the works it
produced with multimedia presentations. Practical work
will include the development of an art journal that will
record participants experience with a variety of traditional
methods of drawing, painting and design.

Senyar Championship
Katara Beach
In a bid to revive the ancient marine heritage and pay tribute to
ancestors, the Cultural Village Foundation-Katara, launched Senyar
Championship, for the fourth consecutive year. The championship
for this year comprised three competitions of pearl diving and fishing
(Lafah and Haddaq). Senyar fourth Championship registration has
witnessed a record turnout of applicants.
It is noteworthy that the competitions’ winners grabed awards for
the largest amount of fishing for both (Lafah and Haddaq), besides
the award for fishing the largest fish in terms of weight and the
largest amount of oyster.
As part of its efforts to elevate this championship, the organizing
committee had introduced new terms and conditions according
to which, new team member from GCC countries can be included
in the team.
According to the new regulations, a child, aged under ten years,
could be affiliated to the team under the condition of being
accompanied with his guardian, while his fishing amount would
be included in the total. Also, a non- Qatari captain can be replaced
by a national captain, and the number of the team would be up to
11. Unlike non-Qatari, the captain, will be permitted to take part at
fishing competition.

Qatar Philharmonic Orchestra was founded by Her Highness
Sheikha Mozah Bint Nasser Al-Missned in 2007. Qatar Philharmonic
collaborates with prominent conductors and soloists to perform
and promote Western and Arabic classical compositions in order
to inspire the children and adults of Qatar and the Arab world. The
orchestra has worked with international renowned conductors
such as Lorin Maazel, Dmitri Kitajenko, Gerd Albrecht, Marc
Minkowski and James Gaffigan.
Qatar Philharmonic Orchestra (QPO) is a young, dynamic
orchestra created to enhance community and culture in Qatar
and in the region. QPO merges Eastern and Western music and
features 101 musicians from 30 nations.
Led by Maestro Lorin Maazel, QPO performs the works of different
composers including Ludwig van Beethoven, Maurice Ravel and
QPO’s own resident composer, Marcel Khalifa, who has created
two specially-commissioned pieces - Arabian Concerto and
Salute. Opening in grand style with an Inaugural Gala Concert
at the Qatar National Theater in Doha, the orchestra has drawn
international acclaim, performing in Washington DC, Paris and
Italy. In a drive to promote a greater understanding of classical
Eastern and Western music, QPO has developed an ongoing
program of school concerts.
In 2009, three concerts under the theme Music is Magic were sold
out and more concerts are yet to come.
