About ProWell Project
At ProWell Project, we strongly believe in
‘inclusive development’ where everybody
regardless of their age, gender, physical
and mental ability, geographical location
and background should be given equal
opportunities to participate in social and
economic development.
Therefore, we started the project with two
main visions in mind – first, is to capitalize
on the untapped skills and talents of the
persons with disabilities from Community
Based Rehabilitation Programme (CBR)
and residents of Welfare Institution
under the Department of Social Welfare.
Second, is to provide sustainable
economic empowerment opportunities
for them.
The ProWell Project then came out with
a special business model for the socioeconomic empowerment of the group
with special needs. The model is based
on the principle of social-enterprise
where the fundamental of the set-up is to
address specific challenges faced by the
target group while maximizing the socioeconomic outcome.
The ProWell Team facilitates in every
step of the process – from product
development, training, providing the
equipment and raw material needed,
packaging and branding, to securing
the market for the products made by the
target group. Hence, we came out with
the tagline “Empowering lives,
Engaging hearts”

Batik Collection
Batik is our national craft treasure that originates
from the east coast of Malaysia. Malaysian batik
is usually patterned with floral motif in wonderful
hues of colours. Batik production is an art itself
which blendscreativity, patience and great skills to
create an aesthetically unique batik. There are two
common techniques being used to produce batik,
handpainted or printed with wooden or copper
block with the former requires greater artistic skills.
Each hand-painted batik is a masterpiece. What
makes it more amazing? A group of ProWell
participants have brought batik to another level.
With sheer determination, they have challenged
the impossible and proved that their physical
limitations don’t stop them from producing beautiful
painted batik as well.
While their artistic fellows are working meticulously
to deliver another masterpiece, another group of
ProWell participants, also persons with disabilities
are working on our Batik Collection. With their
great sewing skills, they transformed the fabric
to a variety of practical products like trendy bags
to keep all your travel essentials, soft furnishings
and casings for your high-tech gadgets so you can
flaunt your batik any day, anytime!

Beads Collection
More than mere costume jewellery, beads hold
centuries of tradition for Sarawak’s indigenous
folk. Beads represent social, economic and
cultural meaning and were usually inherited from
generation to generation as family treasure.
Antique beads were scarce; therefore, ProWell
aspires to revive the national’s heritage with the
introduction of Beads Collection from our talented
ProWell partners from Land of Hornbills, Sarawak,
Malaysia and the persons with disabilities from
Community Based Rehabilitation Programme
(CBR) of Welfare Institution under the Department
of Social Welfare, Malaysia.
The exclusive collection ‘Indu’ is individually
crafted from clay. The dual firing method known
as ‘Raku’ technique is used to create the beautiful
cracking lines on the beads. ‘Indu’ means ‘women’
in Iban language and its elegance and uniqueness
represents the crafters themselves – women from the
ethnic group ‘Orang Ulu’ and ‘Iban’ in Sarawak,
Malaysia.
We hope you will treasure this exquisite creation
as much as the women taking pride in delivering
such a beautiful piece of art just for you.

Songket Collection
‘Songket’ is Malaysia’s exclusive textile which
symbolizes the perfect combination of artistic skills,
passion and dedication of the weaver. Traditional
songket is hand-woven and intricately patterned with
gold or silver threads that perfectly stand out against
the background cloth to create a shimmering effect.
Given the rich tradition, songket was
historically associated with the royalties. Due
to its elaborate design and rich texture, in
this modern day, songket is usually being
worn during weddings and special occasions.
However, we thought that the fabric is too
beautiful to be used only occasionally. That is
how our ProWell participants – persons with
disabilities come out with this exquisite songket
collections. They carefully integrate the traditional
textile to suit with the contemporary lifestyle.
Ranging from the exclusive evening clutch, tote
bags to home furnishings, we have everything
so that you can cherish your songket every day!
