C.A.R.E.S. Suicide Prevention Founder/Executive Director
Virginia created C.A.R.E.S. Suicide Prevention to help her community after the loss of
her son in 2006. Since then, she has been pursuing an Associate Degree in Sociology
with the hopes of attaining her Bachelor in Social Work. Virginia is a certified QPR
Suicide Prevention Gatekeeper Instructor and a designated Victim Services
Practitioner. Among her many accomplishments, she was honored as the recipient of the 2009 Leadership
Award, from the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention, for advancing the cause of suicide
prevention in the U.S. She was also the 2008 November recipient from the Readers Digest “Make It
Matter” Program, 2010 “Professional of the Year Award” from Lee County Injury Prevention Coalition,
and 2007 recipient “Extraordinary Women of Southwest Florida” from Renda Broadcasting Corporation.
Felix Padron, Psy, LMHC

Dr. Felix O. Padrón is a licensed psychotherapist with a Doctorate in
Psychology. He has over 17 years of experience. Dr. Padron is the founder and
C.E.O. of FACES – a community mental health center servicing the residents of
Lee and Collier County. FACES was designed to help individuals & families
through life changes. Dr. Padrón has taught divorced parenting classes for over
13 years, having worked with over 17,000 divorcing parents to-date. For the past 17 years, Dr. Padrón
has also been providing seminars to major companies, cities, and profesional firms on topics including
How to Get along with Difficult People, Workplace Violence Prevention, Sexual Harrassment Prevention
Training, Stress Management, Employee Orientations, and Critical Incidents Stress Debriefings among
many others. Dr. Padrón & his team at FACES provides individual, couple & family therapy, as well as
substance abuse services in order to empower life lasting change.
Charity Godfrey
H.I.P. Program Coordinator & Community Liaison
Charity received her Bachelor’s of Science Degree as a Magna Cum Laude from
Hodges University where she continues her studies in the Mental Health Counseling
graduate program with her focus on children and bereavement. In 2009, she was
honored as the first recipient of the “Community Service Award” provided by
Hodges University. As a community liaison for Big Brothers Big Sisters of SWFL
for AmeriCorps, Charity was responsible for promoting the children’s mentoring
program. She also volunteers with Hope Hospice and Island Coast Aids Network.
Currently, Charity is a coordinator for organizing the first Children’s Mental Health Conference to be
held at FGCU this coming fall.
