Divali Nagar Outreach 2014 - Central Bank of Trinidad and Tobago
Divali Nagar Outreach 2014
The Central Bank’s Money Museum had a successful outreach at the 2014 edition of Divali Nagar, as hundreds of people passed through the booth looking at exhibits, asking questions and enjoying the giveaways. A mini Money Museum was set up at the Nagar site between October 14-‐22, and exhibits included early forms of money, Trinidad and Tobago’s first $50 note, as well as samples of destroyed (shredded) currency. Many people who came into the booth said it was a great learning experience as they had little idea before about the history and development of currency in Trinidad and Tobago and the role and functions of the Central Bank. The visitors’ book was signed by 662 people – the actual number of visitors was actually much higher as not everyone signed the book. Their enthusiasm and appreciation was expressed with comments such as “very enlightening”, “impressive” and “amazing”. Visitors included the young and old, students and retirees, and many even commented that they found the Money Museum’s booth the “best at the Nagar”. It was also truly rewarding for the staff of the Money Museum to see the reactions of members of the public as we continue with our work of bringing the Bank to the people.
