Pequot family musical
celebrates enduring friendship

HAVE A SAFE & HAPPY 4TH OF JULY
“A Year with Frog and Toad,” a
story of friendship and adventure, is an enchanting musical for
the whole family presented by
Pequot
Lakes
Community
Theatre (PLCT).
Performance dates are July 7, 8,
13, 14, and 15 at 7:30 p.m. and
July 9 at 2 p.m. in the Pequot
Lakes High School Theatre.
The plot follows two great
friends, the cheerful and popular
Frog (Michael Sander) and the
rather grumpy Toad (Ben
Gordon) through four, fun-filled
seasons.
Based on the beloved books by
Arnold Lobel the treasured characters leap from page to stage
with a hummable score by
Robert and Willie Reale. This
Broadway hit was nominated for
three TONY Awards, including
Best Musical.
Waking from hibernation in the
spring, Frog and Toad plant gardens, swim, rake leaves, go
sledding, and learn life lessons
along the way. The two best
friends celebrate their differences and uniqueness.
Part vaudeville, part makebelieve, all charm, “A Year with
Frog and Toad” puts the spotlight
on friendship that endures,
weathering all seasons. The
jazzy, upbeat score bubbles with
melody and wit.
In addition to Frog and Toad, a
host of characters come to life,
including:
Mother Frog, Turtle, Bird 1, Mole
– Kate Davis;
Squirrel, Mouse, Young Frog,
Mole, Bird 2 – Mackenzie
Papillon-Renford;
Man Bird, Father Frog, Snail –
Scott Ruffing;
Lizard, Terrible Horrible Frog,
Mole, Squirrel – Ron Wendorf.
The show is directed by Nancy
Waller. Vocal director is Lauren
Nickisch. Stephanie White is
stage manager. Tim Leagjeld is
set designer. Technical director
is Joy Kibwaa, Lisa Sater is
conductor.
