The castle and the park have been designed and built in the english Tudor style from 1889 - 1893 by
Empress Victoria Friedrich. Since 1954, the former castle “Friedrichshof” is operated as the
Schlosshotel Kronberg from the landgrave and prince of Hesse. As privately owned hotel it is member
of the “Small Luxury Hotels of the World”.

With the hotel owned limousine you are
driven to the grid – experience an unique
circular sightseeing flight with a 360 degree
bird's eye panorama view above the Taunus.
Have a look from the Wetterau up to the
Odenwald. The flight time is about 30
minutes together with other guests and you

VISIT THE PALMENGARTEN IN FRANKFURT
The Palmengarten in Frankfurt am Main is one of the renowned botanic gardens in Europe. It was
built in 1868 by an initiative of the citizens of Frankfurt. They bought shares with a total value of
more than 200.000 guilder to transport the exceptional plant collection of duke Adolph of Nassau
from Wiesbaden to Frankfurt. Until today, the Palmengarten is a public park and to its social
engagement obliged. Its motto „Plants, Life and
Culture“ serves different demands.
The Palmengarten measures 20 ha park area with
magnificent trees and flowerbeds with seasonal
changing flowers. Additionally there are theme
gardens as well as greenhouses like the historical
palm house or the “Tropicarium”. Plants from almost
all vegetation of the world can be visited, from the
tropical rainforest to the Subantarctic. The
Palmengarten belongs to the Top six gardens
worldwide in the category “abundancy of species”.

VISIT OF CASTLE FASANERIE IN EICHENZELL NEXT TO FULDA
The castle Fasanerie offers from April to October, Tuesday to
Sunday between 10 am to 5 pm guided tours through the
museum. Every hour, princely style of home is shown with
expensive furnishings, chandelier and und exquisite cloths from
two centuries. A tour in the museum guides you through
impressive halls and living rooms. Discover the library of
landgrave Marie or the dowry of Alexandra, the daughter of a
tsar.
Every day at 3 pm the extensive porcelain collection of the
Hessian family is displayed. Different tableware, figures as well
as decoration for chimneys show you the world of the “white
gold” from a lot of royal manufactures. Also the smaller visitors
can discover the castle, for example with the castle ghost or a fairytale tour. These tours for children
are not only during vacations an attractive experience.

The idyllic castle park can be visited the whole year. The english landscape park offers ornately
sculptures, romantic places, a lot of historic trees and obscure channels. Two pavilions from the
Baroque Age appear until today in a breath-taking magnificence.

HISTORICAL SITE INSPECTION AT SCHLOSSHOTEL KRONBERG
The Schlosshotel Kronberg has been built in 1889 for Victoria
Empress Friedrich (1840 bis 1901) and was named „Schloss
Friedrichshof“. The architect was Ernst von Ihne, who has
built the castle in memory of her passed away husband
Empereor Friedrich III. He died 99 days after his coronation.
In 1894 „Schloss Friedrichshof“ has been finished and
Empress Victoria moved into her new home. In World War II
“Schloss Friedrichshof” was spared, but afterwards occupied
by the Americans and used as a casino. Since 1954 “Schloss
Friedrichshof” is the grand hotel Schlosshotel Kronberg. Learn

The castle in Kronberg is located on a rock in the South of Kronberg and offers one of the best views
over the Rhein-Main-area. The name of the village points out that the castle was built on the estate
of the Staufens. The time of the settlement is not exactly known. It is verified that the pentagon
tower is the oldest part of the castle. The ruins of the castle have an accessible tower which is 44m
high. From this point you have a breath-taking view over the surrounding area, sometimes even to
the Spessart and Odenwald.

The winery PRINZ VON HESSEN in Johannisberg belongs to the outstanding
Riesling-producers in Germany and is VDP-member in the regional
association Rheingau. Numerous recognitions, nationally and internationally,
reflect the top quality of PRINZ VON HESSEN. The wines and sparkling wines
of the winery PRINZ VON HESSEN have won different awards multiple times.
Since 1956, PRINZ VON HESSEN has collected a large amount of wine rarities
and is sold with high prices on wine auctions. General Manager Mr. Dr.
Clemens Kiefer will guide you personally through his winery, sometimes even
to the wine cellar with its treasures. In the end, a wine tasting with regional
specialties is offered.
The “Niederwalddenkmal” is located on the
side of the park “Niederwald” above the city
Rüdesheim am Rhein, bordered by the
vineyards of Rüdesheim. The monument is
built in memory of the unification of Germany
in 1871. The planning and construction took
twelve years – from the first idea 1871 till the
official opening September, 28th in 1883. The
construction time took six years. After a ride
with the chairlift, you have a breath-taking
view over the Rhine-river!

“Hermannsdenkmal” next to Detmold, in the south of the Teutoburger Wald, the
“Völkerschlachtdenkmal” in Leipzig, the “Bismarck-Denkmal” in Hamburg and the “Walhalla” next to
Donaustauf, the “Niederwalddenkmal” belongs to the main memorials of Germany, which has been
built during the German empire. The “Niederwalddenkmal” is part of the UNESCO-world-heritage
Oberes Mittelrheintal, since 2002.
