The County of Riverside Mobile Health Clinic (MHC), operated by Riverside County Regional Medical
Center (RCRMC), is a 40-foot-long clinic on wheels. We assist members of our community (uninsured and in
between insurance) gain access to traditional primary health care providers.
Under the supervision of the medical director, care is provided by a healthcare provider, a pharmacist, a
licensed vocational nurse, a health services assistant and supporting staff. Our unit is equipped to handle
drop-in care for non-emergency medical conditions, follow-up care and basic laboratory tests for purposes of
completing medical screening examinations. Program services include, but not limited to healthcare education,
general medical exams, preventive screenings, immunizations, physical exams, vaccinations, as well as screening and treatment of chronic health conditions for adults, children and families. The early detection, treatment
and effective ongoing management of chronic illnesses is crucial.

Riverside Community Health Foundation started the Miles of Smiles Elementary Dental Program in
2001. The first year the program was in one school and served 1,000 children. During the 2013-2014
school year, the program served close to 25,000 children across three school districts. The Miles of
Smiles Program is at 14 elementary schools in Jurupa providing oral health to over 9,000 children,
screening over 5,400 and placing over 4,700 sealants.
Working with these schools is an important entry point for providing information and oral health
education, as well as delivering oral health care services to a large number of children. RCHF appreciates these vital partnerships with the school districts and each of the elementary schools that value what
these services mean to the children and their families.

Studies show that poor dental health has strong financial, emotional, and physical implications. In fact,
children with untreated tooth decay are more likely to have self esteem issues, school absences, and
difficulty learning than their peers with healthy teeth. However, today’s high cost of dental procedures
means that many low income and uninsured families don’t have access to proper dental care, and
because of this suffer high rates of tooth decay.
