The 2011 McDonald’s Texas Invitational:
Another Great Year!
The ninth year of
the
McDonald’s
Texas
Invitational
has
come
and
gone; what another great year! This year’s tournament & leadership had the pleasure of hosting 80 of the best
teams in the nation and saw some pretty incredible basketball. These high school kids
are talented. And if you don’t believe
me, just watch where they will go.
Pasadena, and now Deer Park, Texas, is
home to the McDonald’s Texas Invitational high school basketball tournament, an event that features 48 boys’
teams and 32 girls’ teams. This tournament is one of the largest of its kind in
the nation, and continues to grow in
prestige each year. The event was held on November 17th-19th. All games were played at ten
locations in and around Pasadena and Deer
Park at local schools and at Pasadena Independent School District’s Phillips Fieldhouse.
Meador Staffing was a platinum-level sponsor.
Many of our employees went out to the
schools to donate their time and good
service to help the tournament flow
smoothly. This tournament is the brainchild of our very own Mr. Meador, CEO
of Meador Staffing. He had a great vision
nine years ago to bring a monumental
high school basketball tournament to
Pasadena, Texas. With an incredible zeal
for sports and an even stronger passion
for the city of Pasadena, Mr. Meador
created an event that will go down in the record
books as one of the most successful community
events for the state, and quite possible the nation, let alone Pasadena, Texas. Without his vision, dedication, persistence, and love for his
community, this tournament would not be in existence. He does have a little help from the devout steering committee. A few others from our
Meador Staffing family serve on that committee,
one whom is Mr. Meador’s right-hand woman
and saving grace of this event, Rita Townsend.
Rita ensures that every detail of this tournament
is absolutely perfect, creating our programs and
all other material, working with our coaches,
and countless other duties that we appreciate
her so much for. Darla Haygood is the Volunteer Chair, organizing all of the volunteer duties and planning. Morgan Sheen handles all of
the social media outlets for the brand as Social
Media Manager.
Our Division 1 Gold
champions this year
were the gentlemen
from Flower Mound
Marcus, the number
one team in the nation, and the ladies
from Duncanville. A
big congratulations
goes out to all of our
other award-winning
teams!

This year’s invitational was expected to draw
between 40,000 and 45,000 fans over the three
-day period, with the final game on Saturday,
November 19th, televised nationally on Fox
College Sports. The telecast was expected to
reach over 70 million subscribers on Fox channels. The City of Pasadena has been running
some great spots on channel 16, promoting
the tournament, and our media outlets have
written some great feature articles covering
the game.

Wreaths of Love
Meador Staffing and our clients are truly
in the holiday spirit this Christmas season.
Our Strategic Marketing Team was very
excited to announce a new, fun, festive
way to involve our clients and community in celebrating the season with a charity activity, Wreaths of Love.
Most Festive
Most
Original
We asked our clients who wanted to participate to decorate wreaths that would
be donated to deserving individuals and
organizations in our communities. Our company provided the wreaths to the clients
and picked them up once
decorated for judging at
Meador Staffing Corporate.
We had four judges representing the Pasadena
Chamber of Commerce, Deer Park
Chamber of Commerce, and BAHEP,
who selected the Most Original, Most Festive, and Most Extravagant wreaths
among the wreaths submitted.
Wreaths of Love was a huge success!
Please check Meador’s Facebook to see
the incredible pictures of these creations.
It is obvious that a lot of love, time and
effort went
into these
wreaths.
What a
wonderful
way to
share the
season.
