Druid Craft is a Cork-based
manufacturing company
specialising in bronze statues
and gifts. The range includes
soccer, rugby, golf, gaelic games,
equestrian and Irish historical,
among many more. Druid Craft
takes its name from the ancient
high priests and uses many of the
same methods in place since the
Bronze Age. Each piece is handcast using a mould made from a
sculpture, almost exactly as it was
3000 years ago and then finished
by hand to ensure precision and
high quality.
Gosling Games is a family-based
business, which provides good
old-fashioned entertainment
of the kind you thought you
couldn’t find any more, including
board games such as the now
infamous ‘Discovering Ireland’ and
jigsaw puzzles. The philosophy
has always been to design and
produce traditional Irish made
games which encourage learning
through fun. A recent addition
to the range is a traditional Ring
Board. While the wooden game
design looks great, it is also
fantastic for improving hand-eye
coordination.
Lee River Leather Goods was
founded in Cork in 1985, but as far
back as 1969 has been creating
work in leather for the fashion
savvy consumer. The company
is famed for belts and now in
2013 will launch its contemporary
collection of Irish-made designer
fashion accessories, including
classic leather bags, belts and
wallets. Handmade in Cork, Lee
River Leather Goods uses only the
highest quality vegetable-tanned
leather that is ethically sourced
from a family-owned tannery in
Tuscany.

From a workshop in Kinsale
Co. Cork, Mamukko produces
a contemporary and affordable
range of handmade handbags
and accessories. These original
creations are made of up-cycled
sailcloth, PVC tarpaulin and marine
fabrics. Mamukko is
the creative passion of two
brothers, Attila and Levi, and
each piece is individually
designed, handcrafted and
finished in their workshop.
Mianra Soaps are handmade in
small batches, using the traditional
cold process method and only
with natural ingredients, which are
suitable for even the most delicate
skin. Mianra – which means Mineral
in Irish – was chosen to reflect
some of the unique ingredients
used in these soaps, in particular
the wild harvested seaweed from
the West of Ireland which has an
extremely high mineral content
and is incorporated in many Mianra
soaps. Formulating, tweaking
recipes and dreaming up scents is
the mantra of Mianra.
Rynhart Fine Art Bronze was
started by Jeanne Rynhart, creator
of the Molly Malone statue in
Dublin, in 1981. Since 1994, it has
been run by Jeanne’s daughter
Audrey and son-in-law Les
Eilliot. Each piece is individually
handmade in Glengarriff, West
Cork. When happy with the
modelling, a mould is made and
production begins in bronze
plate (cold cast bronze) or smelt
bronze (for gallery work/one
off public sculpture and private
commissions). Finally, the pieces
are hand polished and finishing
touches added.

Eyed Peas world tour, Britney
Spears femme fatale tour, Lady
Gaga and Natalie Cole. Paris Hilton
is also a huge fan.

golfwear market for experienced
lady golfers.
Bluegreen bespoke designs
compliment the experienced,
discerning lady golfer. Styles are
fluid, feminine, flattering and fun,
reminiscent of a time gone by,
all made with carefully chosen
fine wools, linen, cotton and
cotton mixes. The range includes
slipovers, jumpers, cardigans,
skirts and skorts as well as a
selection of trousers.
Dublin linen and lace are makers
of fine linen christening gowns
embroidered with images of Celtic
Ireland.
The company founder, Rosaleen
Byrne, studied history during a
course at UCD and was inspired
by historical lacemaking and
needlework, used by many
Irish women in the past to
survive. Dublin Linen and Lace
creates a range of heirloom Irish
linen christening gowns and
accessories including booties,
bonnets, shawls and rompers with
celtic embroidery inspired by the
Book of Kells.

The Irish Country House Collection
of scented candles is based on the
decorative elements of the Irish
country house. Each beautifully
boxed candle is decorated in
heritage colours, with motifs taken
from elements found in an Irish
country house.
Each scent represents the mood
evoked by a particular room, for
example, summer damask roses
in the drawing room. Boxes tell
the story of each room and how it
was used. The range consists of
five scents, entrance hall, drawing
room, dining room, library and
garden room.
Inspired by the Mrs. Doyle
character from the much loved
“Father Ted” TV series, there are
tea pots, tea cosies and cups as
well as chocolates and jams –
everything you need to enjoy a
perfect cup of tea!
Mrs. Doyle’s tea has expanded
outside of “Craggy Island” and is
growing in popularity at various
outlets across the country. Those
behind Mrs. Doyle’s tea also love
her look, describing it as vintage
and cool, which led to the creation
of aprons, hats and bags.

She is influenced by the Irish rural
environment and likes to create
simple, natural looking forms with
subtle colours and textures. Her
love of horses directly influences
her horsehair pottery. She uses
hair from her horses’ manes and
tails to embellish the vessels.
Claire also creates individual pots
for horse owners, where each
pot is decorated with hair from a
particular horse to create a unique
memento.
Aileen-Anne Brannigan and Donal
McDonald have teamed their skills
and expertise to create unique
Irish stone and marble products
for the home, collector and
presentation markets. Their work
is beautifully designed and crafted
to expose the natural beauty and
hidden depths of Irish stone and
marble. Donal’s family tradition

making and restoration across
Ireland. Aileen-Anne creates
animal sculptures, poetry standing

Roy Humphreys is a fourth
generation woodturner. He is
self taught and uses all native
timber in his work, including Yew,
Beech, Oak, Elm and Ash. For
Roy, woodturning is a journey of
discovery: acquiring the wood,
imagining all its possibilities,
the turning process itself and
removing the turned piece from
the lathe. When the wood has
been left to dry for a number of
months, Roy rediscovers it again
– applying oil to the raw surface
and seeing the richness, depth of
colour and grain spring magically
to life.
Artist Iris Hippelle re-creates the
wilderness of nature in her textile
art. Her silk and linen pieces are
decorated ornamentally with
botanic imprints using perennials,
wild flowers from the meadows,
weeds and vegetables and each
piece is an original. For the last
two decades, her work has been
recognised internationally and
is collected not just in Ireland
but in countries as diverse as
Switzerland, France, Australia,
Japan and the USA. Her work also
includes original hand painted
behind glass clocks and CD clocks
inspired by nature.
Celtic Flame candles are made
using up to twenty different
processes by a team of three.
Wax blocks are melted down and
poured into moulds, flowing over
wicks and cubes of wax. Scents
and colour are added and as the
candles cool, they are topped up
to ensure a smooth, consistent
finish. The range currently
comprises of six spring/summer
scents and associated colours.
Every Celtic Flame candle sold
not only provides a beautiful,
handcrafted gift, but supports
social services for older people
in Leitrim.

Best known for her life like
mould-blown forms, Louise
employs a variety of hot and warm
glass techniques to create her
distinctive sculptural glasswork,
which is often combined or
juxtaposed with found objects and
other materials. Her work features
in national and international
collections, including the Ulster
Museum and the National Glass
Museum of the Netherlands.
Jonathan Ball is based in Kinlough,
North Leitrim. He loves working
with both glass and metal as
both materials, once heated, give
countless options for shaping
them into a work of art.
Jonathan continues to be inspired
by the optical qualities of glass and
its potential for detail and colour;
and the strength, durability and
plasticity of hot forged metalwork.
Originally trained in furniture
design, Jonathan developed his
blacksmithing skills while working
with artist blacksmiths in England

ENTERPRISE ZONE 2013
Clonmines Joinery Ltd has
diversified from its original product
range of bespoke staircases,
adding Gameball to the range
in 2011. Gameball are one-off
timber trophies and gifts which
are hand crafted in Clonmines
Joinery’s Co. Wexford workshop.
The range includes soccer ball,
rugby ball, gaelic football, hurl
and sliotar, golf trophy, American
football, volleyball, table tennis
and presentation book. Different
species of hardwood, mostly from
Ireland, are combined to make this
unique trophy or gift idea.
Patricia Howard of the Potters
Yard, based in South Co. Wexford,
has over 30 years’ experience.
For Showcase 2013, Patricia has
designed a new range of spongedecorated tableware. Inspired
by late 18th century English
spongeware and her passion
for collecting folk art, Patricia’s
quirky elephant motif is the first
in a series. The coloured slips are
printed onto leather hard clay.
A transparent glaze is added for
a hard and durable finish. The
products are dishwasher and
microwave usable.
Fleur Jewellery is hand made in
Wicklow using precious and semi
precious gemstones, fresh water
pearls and 14kt filled gold – with
sterling silver upon request. The
collection includes earrings,
necklaces and bracelets. Fleur
always had a keen interest in gems
and precious stones. This love,
coupled with an ever increasing
personal collection, led Fleur to
dabble in jewellery making, which
has blossomed into a full-time
endeavour.

Heli MG Tufted luxury is luxurious
hand tufted coats, capes, stoles
and accessories. Originally from
Finland, Co. Wicklow based Heli
Miikkulainen-Gilbert is inspired
by the scandinavian ‘Rya Rug’
textiles which, according to the
history books, Viking soldiers used
to wrap around themselves on
their sea journeys. All products are
constructed of durable outer shell
over a base garment which is lined
with silk for a luxurious finish, feel
and wind resistance. Alternatively,
the lining can be made from
thick polyester satin for a harder
wearing product.
Irish Baubles are hand-painted
glass baubles featuring images of
Ireland and corporate logos. Set
up in 2011 as a school transition
year company, Ciara Whooley’s
Irish Baubles went on to win the
overall National Student Enterprise
Awards in May 2012. Her unique
baubles are delicately handpainted from the inside with iconic
pictures from around Ireland. She
has also developed corporate
baubles for charities and the
hotel sector. Ciara is aiming to
create a bauble featuring famous
landmarks for every county in
Ireland.
The Old Rectory collection of
organic printed clothing and
accessories for children and
babies comprises of pyjamas,
babygrows, newborn gowns,
sleepbags, blankets, scarves, hats,
long sleeved t-shirts and gift sets
for the under 10s. A colour palette
of muted blues, vintage rose,
and fresh greens, scenes of wild
garden birds, owls, bunnies, secret
gardens and swooping swallows
will delight. The collection is made
in organic cotton and has ecofriendly packaging. Old Rectory
won gold in 2012 for best craft
based start-up of the year.
