Our famous hospitality welcomes holiday makers in search of adventure and a stunning natural environment. Combine the rugged outback with the sophistication of fine wines, alfresco dining, spectacular coast line and a sublime climate and you have the perfect holiday destination. Perth, the capital, is acclaimed as one of the most friendly and attractive cities in Australia with inner-city parks and the beautiful Swan River adding to the relaxed, nature-based feel. Perth has 19 beaches to choose from, each with its own atmosphere but all offering superb sunsets over the Indian Ocean and great swimming. Surfing, fishing, beach volleyball, parasailing, wind-surfing and yachting are the major river and sea sports. Perth people take to sport like they do to water. Thousands take part in the annual City to Surf fun run and the Avon Descent, Australia's greatest white water event. Australian Rules football, soccer, cricket, golf, basketball and horse racing top the list of spectator sports. Northbridge and Fremantle have been joined by a number of other café pulse points including Leederville, Subiaco, Mount Lawley, Victoria Park, Nedlands, Claremont, Cottesloe and the city. Outdoor cafes serving light meals from breakfast until supper can also be found at many hotels. The waterfront is another lure for diners, with riverside restaurants clustered on the Swan River at Barrack Square, South Perth, Crawley, Nedlands, Mosman Park and Fremantle. Beachfront cafes hug the coast from Fremantle through Cottesloe to Scarborough and Sorrento Quay, while Fraser’s Restaurant and the Kings Park Tea Rooms are favourites with tourists for their views of the city skyline. From the city, head to the South West for world class wineries, luxury accommodation and forests of tall timbers. For history, heritage and high adventure, head to the wide open spaces of the Golden Outback. Awesome marine life, endless white sandy beaches and the warm turquoise waters of the Indian Ocean characterise the Coral Coast. Or if it’s an Aussie frontier adventure you’re after, head further north to the rugged Kimberley and Pilbara regions. The last time the sport’s premier long distance event was held in Australia was 2006 when Canberra, the nation’s capital, played host. This time, Perth, the capital of Western Australia, will welcome long distance triathletes from around the world to its idyllic location. Perth is acclaimed as one of the friendliest and most attractive cities in Australia, with inner-city parks and the beautiful Swan River adding to the relaxed, nature-based feel. Langley Park, ideally positioned next to the CBD on the foreshore of the Swan River, will act as the hub of this iconic event, which comprises a 3km swim, 80km bike ride and 20km run. The testing event will provide a challenge to all age group and elite athletes, who will race for prize money pool of US$75,000. Event Partnership Triathlon Australia (TA), the sport’s governing body in the country, is the proud event manager for these world championships and is responsible for driving entry numbers and, ultimately, executing the event. To achieve its vision, TA has entered into a tourism event partnership with Eventscorp.
