INTRODUCTION
ADNOC Group of companies has always emphasized its roles and
its responsibilities to the society and environment, and played a
leadership role in the UAE. This leadership stems from the vision of
the UAE rulers and their commitment to social responsibility.
ADMA-OPCO has a long history of acting in a socially responsible
manner visioning the long term CSR policy and strategy. This strong
commitment to society has been reflected in many activities and
contributions to the society, which will be illustrated later in the
booklet.

CHARACTERISTICS OF ADMA-OPCO’s
SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
ADMA-OPCO has successfully practiced CSR activities well before
such activities were grouped together under this acronym.
• ADMA-OPCO’s incorporated social responsibility and obligations
have always extended beyond compliance with statutory regulation
and legislation of the UAE.
• It’s long operating history, approaching fifty years, the Company’s
reputation and image has been sustained as a result of positive
behavior with regards to both the society and environment.
• ADMA-OPCO has taken many steps over the years to improve the
quality of life for its employees and their families with extra care given
to the offshore workers welfare, health, safety and social life.

• The Company has, on many occasions, extended its welfare
facilities to the local community, contractors and the society at large
by positive encouraging and supporting social, educational, health,
cultural, sports and other initiatives.
• The Company found that its practices have a very strong business
sense. It benefited in many ways from operating within a broader
perspective beyond the Company shareholders’ immediate or
intermediate Business Boundary. The company’s contribution to the
development of the local society has also benefitted the Company, in
return.

Extensive efforts in the area of environmental protection are made
as part of the Company policies. Some environmental protection

WATER CONSERVATION CAMPAIGN
‘REDUCE WATER CONSUMPTION’ CAMPAIGN
A multi-faceted programme of activities was held in the Headquarters
and Das Island in coordination with the Federal Environment
Agency & Community Policing Department marking ADMA-OPCO
celebrations of the UAE Environment Day, with the theme of Water
Conservation.
The activities included educational lecture by EAD & environmental
skit, go green and clean-up campaign, environmental publications,
posters and quizzes.
Management actively participates in ecological
activities.
Participating in the celebrations were also students from private and
government schools, Petroleum Institute, visitors from other OPCOs,
contracting companies and the general public.
These activities reflect the Company’s commitment and efforts aimed
at instilling environmental values among its workforce and enhancing
awareness of global warming associated hazards.

ceremony of the Gulf Autism Centre at the Company headquarters,

Dhabi, and other non-profit organizations.

VOLUNTARY WORK
• ADMA-OPCO received SHARJAH AWARD for Voluntary Work.
• ADMA-OPCO offered welfare facilities to the local community for
hosting social and educational activities.
• ADMA-OPCO has hosted many Classical Music Concerts at the
Auditorium in co-operation with Abu Dhabi Authority for Culture and
Heritage and Abu Dhabi Concert Committee.
• Donations have been made towards Healthcare and Hospitals.

WORKPLACE HEALTH AND SAFETY
• The safety of the company’s workforce and its contractors, as well
as operational assets, has been of paramount importance to ADMAOPCO since its earliest days.
• This emphasis on Health and Safety is reflected in the Company’s
HSE policy statement, which notes that “ADMA-OPCO strongly
believes that all accidents, whether they lead to injuries, ill health,
damage to the environment and property, fire or security breaches,
are preventable and can be controlled through good management”.

Many projects and activities have been executed. They included:
• Subsidizing Hajj and Ummra for employees and their spouses.
• Sponsorship of conferences and seminars.
• Educating and training of students in the oil and gas sector.
• Organizing exhibitions and heritage villages.
• Arranging environmental clean-up campaigns (some embedded in the Company team building training).

ceremony marking the 8th International Women’s
Day in association with Dhawni.

• As a part of the co-operation programme between ADMA-OPCO
and the Ministry of Education, field visits are arranged for a number
of students from various private and government schools.

EXHIBITIONS
• Visits by VIP s and Guests have been organized at the Heritage Village.
• As part of its CSR to the UAE, ADMA-OPCO organized the 1st ADNOC & Group of Companies Geosciences Exhibition which was visited by the General Management from ADNOC, ZADCO,
UAE Ministry of Energy together with 150 visitors.

EMIRATISATION & TALENT MANAGEMENT SYSTEM
EMIRATISATION
• The Company aims to proactively employ UAE citizens and reduce
its dependence on foreign workers.
• As an ADNOC Group company we have a target to achieve 75 per
cent Emiratisation by 2009 throughout all levels.
• This is a major challenge, especially taking into account the rapid
expansion the company is going to go through in the next few years.
• Emiratisation is one important milestone in ADMA-OPCO’s
business plan. Many steps have been taken to achieve the
Emiratisation target of 75% as planned.
TALENT MANAGEMENT SYSTEM
The Company aims to prepare future leaders through this program.
It is committed to developing future manpower to handle future
challenges to help them keep leading the company to a prosperous
future.

DAS ISLAND NATURAL HISTORY
DAS ISLAND NATURAL HISTORY
• The Company has actively encouraged the efforts of Das Island Natural History and Environmental Group.
• The Group’s aim is to maintain the habitat of the natural wildlife and fauna of Das Island.
Greener Das Island means a better environment
for its residents.
• Das Island is a noted breeding site for turtles and seabirds. Despite
oil and gas marine production, the turtles, still feed safely in the
area.
• Birds of many kinds have either found shelter in Das Island’s
expanding areas of greenery, or are regular visitors during their
migration.
• In 2001, upon the guidelines of ADNOC, the Company helped in
establishing an artificial reef which provides sanctuary for fish and
other marine life creatures.

EARLIER CSR ACTIVITIES
PETROLEUM MUSEUM
• The Petroleum Museum was set up by ADMA-OPCO,
ADGAS and ADCO.
• It narrated the history of oil discovery in Abu Dhabi.
• It housed displays, photographs and wall murals
depicting life in the oil business.
Training courses highly prioritised by the Company.
• It contained many exhibits covering geology,
technology, operations and the culture of our oil
business.
• An Educational Training Center was established by the
company where scores of young UAE Nationals were

to be part of the oil and gas business in the future.

education were not available in the country. The center
continued to operate until early 1980s.
• Hundreds of UAE nationals were educated and
given the opportunity to persue higher education with
scholarships overseas.
• A suggestion to revive the Museum at the end of the
presentation.
• Nowadays, it is not unusual to see ADMA graduates
in management positions in almost all of ADNOC Group
of companies and taking leadership roles in many of the
country’s governmental and business establishments.
• When the Company started it had difficulties finding
qualified UAE professionals suitable for the oil and gas
industry.
• Currently, the company encourages continuous
education for employees.

EARLIER CSR ACTIVITIES
ADMA CLINIC
• By the mid 70s, an increase in the population of Abu Dhabi
necessitated the opening of a clinic to serve the Abu Dhabi
community.
• The company setup “ADMA Clinic”. The clinic provided health
care services to all inhabitants of Abu Dhabi. It made a significant
contribution to the health and welfare of Abu Dhabi society.
• The clinic was located on the Airport Road, part of today’s Abu
Dhabi Cultural Foundation land.
• ADMA-OPCO’s health service then was the nucleus of the health
service in the country which has now become world-class.
• Currently, the company provides extensive medical insurance for
employees and their families.
