This is my favorite time of year. It just brings out the kid in me. We have 2 events left for 2004. The first on December 11th at Huffines we will be having our Toy Drive/Car Show. We want to fill a bunch of trucks with toys and I hope everyone will take part in the fun as we gather toys for the forgotten angels. We will be at Huffines from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm and then we will convoy to our destination in Ft Worth. Kelly will have the grill going around lunch time, so we will eat good while we collect toys. The Lone Star Jeep Club will be a big part of our toy drive this year. They have pledged $500 worth of toys from their club as well as all the toys their members plan to bring. THANKS Lone Star Jeep Club for your help and generosity! Our second event in December is our final monthly meeting of the year with Christmas party and gift exchange. Please bring a gift if you want to join in the fun. We have limited the amount to spend to $10, be creative. After our brief meeting we will have a meal catered by Billy Bob's. It will cost all members $5 and the club will pay the other $5. Please bring all the awards that you have received in 2004 to the December meeting. We want to get a group picture with everyone that has shown your Mopar this year. I appreciate how our club members represent our club at local and out of state shows. THANKS to all of your for showing your Mopars! As many of you may know we will be losing our newsletter editor. Yes, Dave Maxon is moving to Washington DC at the end of the year. If you would be willing to take over the Page 2 newsletter editor position please contact a board member. I would like to say THANKS Dave for all of your help and input in your short time as a member. You will be missed! MERRY CHRISTMAS COWTOWN MOPARS!!! and HAPPY NEW YEAR!!! See ya soon! Beep Beep! Mark Buchanan Cowtown Mopars President This has been one long year! But it isn't over just yet. We still have a toy drive and Christmas party to attend! Our annual toy drive will be the largest one we have ever had and from the interest we have had from other clubs, we may have to have several trucks to put the toys in! The Lone Star Jeep club is going to purchase toys and bring them out and their club members are going to bring out even more. We would like all of our members to personally thank them when you meet them at the toy drive for their generosity. The Christmas party will be at Billy Bobs Texas during our next monthly club meeting. There will be a buffet set up with the club paying for part of each members meal. Everyone who wants to participate in the gift exchange is to bring a gift that is wrapped.... make it more fun that way. We will also have a gift exchange for the kids this year so bring the little ones with you! Next year is the 20th anniversary of the club and we are planning for a special tee shirt logo to be used throughout the year. If anyone has any ideas for a tee shirt don't be shy! Bring us your ideas so we can have a lot of options to choose from. We are also going to have new window decals printed to commemorate the anniversary. — Mike Miller, Vice President The board members of Cowtown Mopars hope all had a great and safe thanksgiving holiday. we have plenty to be thankful for. The November general membership meeting held in the Texas room of Billy Bob's in Ft. Worth was called to order by President Mark Buchanan at 5:15 pm. guests and new members were recognized. A special recognition was for Grady Hentz and Mike Morris who had recent health set backs. The annual sponsorship meeting with Huffines was held recently, with basically the same parameters as last year, with the addition of food coupons for show entries. The December Car Show and Toy Drive is December 11th, with an unwrapped toy to be used as an entry fee. The Lone Star Jeep club made a generous donation to the toy drive, which was then matched by our club. We hope to have a huge turn-out for this special occasion. President Buchannan discussed the sale of the new patriotic shirts and club jackets. Please remember our annual Christmas Party to be held on December 19th at Billy Bob's Texas. This will have a buffet meal with the club furnishing half the cost per member and a gift exchange with a maximum of $10. President Buchannan reviewed the new show shirts for our 20th anniversary. A motion was made and passed to accept the 20th anniversary logo shirt as presented. Kelly Hilla was presented the car of the month award. Kim Humphries was presented an award for being the NHRA division 4 bracket winner. Race Team awards were presented to the following club members for this years 3peat performance in the Texas Muscle Car Club Challenge: Kim Humphries, Mark Buchannan Mike Pierce, Pete Phelps, Mike Morris, David Langley, and Frank Smith. After the routine of cars and trucks for sale and wanted was complete, the 50/50 pot was won by Charles Buchannan. The meeting was then adjourned at 6;20 pm for photos of the race team. Respectfully submitted by Ken Angyal, Sec. Page 3 December 2004 I am still in need of some photos! Brian Carpenter brought me some photos from the first car show that the club put on back in 1986. It still has the numbers matching 340 4 Barrel, 4 Speed, with 3.23 rear end. It ’ s taken 43 years to get back to this feeling after a 1960 Chevy Impala 409. I can only say, Old is, and Will Always Be Good! I ’ m looking forward to many more years of Muscle Cars and Cowtown Mopars Club, two good organizations! Thanks, Richard L. It ’ s easy, all you have to do is send a picture of your car and a short story about it to : [email protected] Page 5 Well, here we go again, another month. I must really be getting old as time is just flying by. I can ’ t believe we are now past Thanksgiving and Christmas season is here. We have big plans for the toy drive this year. With our club giving money for extra toys, and the jeep club doing the same, if the members can come through like last year we should have more than one truck load for sure. Our plan is to have Gene ’ s red Coronet on the trailer behind his red truck with either Santa or the Road Runner with a Santa hat driving the car full of toys, with a bunch of our Mopars following in a caravan to deliver the toys to Salvation Army. Hopefully we will have good weather for this day and get some recognition for the club plus give some toys to kids that otherwise wouldn ’ t have a Christmas. All this should go on starting about 10:00 on the morning of Saturday the 11th of December. Be sure and be there, bring a toy and don ’ t forget your car for the show and the caravan. The following weekend on Sunday we will have our annual Christmas party at Billy Bob ’ s on the 19th. At 5:00 p.m. We will have our usual Chinese gift exchange, so each person needs to bring a gift ( serious or joke ) not exceeding $10.00. It is always a lot of fun so plan on being there. The buffet meal will only cost us $5.00 as the club is paying the difference. I think that is all I have for this month. I hope to see everyone at both events. - Gary Bradshaw Activities Director • Cowtown Mopars Performance Team Cruise in at Scotty ’ s is on the 2nd Saturday of the month. N.
