Not entirely true. NWSSC has had a tailgate themed night in September; quite a few of the NWSSC members volunteered as staff for the Sportsman’s Raffle. Which, was a huge success. Thanks from the organizers and the Divan for all your work. NWSSC also took time to recognize its Past Presidents. It was great to see such a great turn out. I want again thank all out Past Presidents for their leadership to make NWSSC the best shrine club of Mighty Medinah. I would like to also apologize for cancelling the Holiday Brunch & Show. The theater closed its doors and I began to look for another venue and found them very expensive. So we will have our Holiday Brunch at Medinah with a program to surly entertain. I am hoping to have a showing of “A White Christmas” to provide some of the entertainment for Sunday November 8, 2015 11 AM. I hope to see you there. On Friday November 13, 2015, Medinah Temple will have the honor of hosting the Imperial Potentate Gerry Gant, the Most Worshipful Tony Cracco and Illustrious Sir R. Michael Keltner at the Unity Dinner. I hope that you do not miss this historical event. It’s not often this type of event happens, so please don’t miss it. On Saturday November 21, 2015 I have planned an outing for our ladies to the craft show at the Odeum in Villa Park at 9 AM with lunch at noon at Mack’s Golden Pheasant. The members of the NWSSC are welcome to either join our ladies or wait at the restaurant. See the flyer for more details. Sounds like a busy November doesn’t it? Just keep in mind the Children’s Holiday Party in December, all our family holiday celebrations and as we wind down the Shrine year we end this year with our annual “Kick Out the President” meeting and dinner Thursday January 14, 2015. Additional details to follow. There is just no end to all the fun and fellowship. Thank you to the Nobles, their ladies, officers and the board for all your support and especially your help. Without your help, advice and guidance NWSSC activities would not have been fun or successful. Langer Peter Sellers Peter Sellers, was a British film actor, comedian and singer. He performed in many film characterizations, among them Chief Inspector Jacques Clouseau in The Pink Panther series of films. Sellers's versatility enabled him to portray a wide range of comic characters using different accents and guises. He would often assume multiple roles within the same film, frequently with contrasting temperaments and styles. Satire and black humor were major features of many of his films, and his performances had a strong influence on a number of later comedians. Sellers garnered much critical acclaim for his work; he was nominated three times for an Academy Award, twice for the Academy Award for Best Actor for his performances in Dr. Strangelove and Being There, and once for the Academy Award for Best Live Action Short Film for The Running Jumping & Standing Still Film (1960). He won the BAFTA Award for Best Actor in a Leading Role twice, for I'm All Right Jack and for the original Pink Panther film, The Pink Panther (1963) and was nominated as Best Actor three times. In 1980 he won the Golden Globe Award for Best Actor – Motion Picture Musical or Comedy for his role in Being There, and also earned three other Golden Globe nominations in the same category. Turner Classic Movies calls Sellers, "one of the most accomplished comic actors of the late 20th century." After his father's death in October 1962, Sellers decided to leave England and was approached by director Blake Edwards who offered him the role of Inspector Clouseau in The Pink Panther, after Peter Ustinov had backed out of the film. Edwards later recalled his feelings as "desperately unhappy and ready to kill, but as fate would have it, I got Mr. Sellers instead of Mr. Ustinov—thank God!" Sellers accepted a fee of £90,000 (£693,293 in 2015 pounds) for five weeks' work on location in Rome and Cortina. The film starred David Niven in the principal role, with two other actors— Capucine and Claudia Cardinale—having more prominent roles than Sellers. However, Sellers's performance is regarded as being on par with that of Charlie Chaplin and Buster Keaton, according to biographer Peter Evans. Although the Clouseau character was in the script, Sellers created the personality, devising the costume, accent, make-up, moustache and trench coat. The Pink Panther was released in the UK in January 1964 and received a mixed reception from the critics. Despite the views of the critics, the film was one of the top ten grossing films of the year. The role earned Sellers a nomination for the Golden Globe Award for Best Actor – Motion Picture Musical or Comedy at the 22nd Golden Globe Awards, and for a Best British Actor award at the 18th British Academy Film Awards. On 21 July 1980 Sellers arrived in London from Geneva. He had plans to attend a reunion dinner with his Goon Show partners Spike Milligan and Harry Secombe, scheduled for the evening of 22 July. On the day of the dinner, Sellers took lunch in his hotel suite and shortly afterwards collapsed from a heart attack. He died just after midnight on 24 July 1980, at age 54. Peter Seller was a member of Chelsea Lodge #3098 in England. Courtesy of Wikipedia. This article has been edited for space considerations.
