The rising stars of today, tomorrow’s virtuosi!
The 2014 season celebrated the 5th anniversary of Annecy Classic Festival. The Festival’s incredible
growth over these years has been made possible thanks to the unfailing support of Andrey Cheglakov
and his AVC Charity Foundation, as well as the artistic commitment of Pascal Escande and pianist
Denis Matsuev. Today, Annecy Classic Festival has become one of the foremost musical events in
Europe.
The St Petersburg Philharmonic, orchestra-in-residence, directed by several conductors including
its principle conductor, Yuri Temirkanov, accompanied numerous international soloists.
Especially committed to promoting the musicians of the future, the Festival presented winners
of international competitions as well as other talented young artists, and organised the second
Annecy Orchestra Campus, hosting 103 musicians aged from 15 to 25 from all over the world.
Thanks to the loyalty of our audiences, we are proud to announce a 95% take-up of places, thus
ensuring the continuation of the Festival. In addition, medici.tv, in partnership with Annecy
Classic Festival, offers both live broadcasts and replays of numerous concerts, to reach an even
wider public.
The number of visits to the new Festival website is also very positive. We recorded around 12,000
connections by 8,000 different visitors in the month of August alone, more than 56,000 web pages
viewed and an average of 4 minutes spent on the site.
This year’s success is due to the experience and hard work of the collective Festival teams, motivated
by a sense of excellence, of the enthusiastic volunteers, of the partners who support us, and of an
ever-increasing public.
Thanks to all those involved, the thrill of excellent music was experienced by artists, backstage
staff and public alike.

Let's picture it: 103 young people from 15 to 25 years old, coming from all over the world,
including 18 Russians, music as the focal point of this melting pot, carried along by the
energy and eagerness to learn typical of this age group, the desire to test one's own
capacity and measure oneself against others, and, finally, the joy of working alongside
musicians as eminent as those of the St Petersburg Philharmonic, now a pillar of the
festival for five years. All those elements combined in twelve days of intensive work, during
which they have only one master, conductor Fayçal Karoui, with his irresistible charisma
and well-known commitment to igniting energies and dynamiting orchestras, culminating
in a single concert.
