Odom’s Remembrance...
Robert Odom Jr. is in GOD HEAVEN !!
by Robert’s Friends
obert Odom Jr. was born in Berkeley, California on May 19, 1976
to the union of Carol and Robert Odom Sr. He attended Lake
Berryessa for 8 out of 9 years. He was rated 3rd ranking at Lake
Berryessa since 1996. He won 1st place champion in 2000, also placed
2nd place twice. He attended big pro bass tournaments such as
“Federation Redman”, Western Outdoor News and Federation for
Professional Bass Fisherman Association. He caught some big bass too!
Robert’s many buddy bassers’ stories tell about him here.
R
“Fishing deep in his heart”
Robert Odom is a man who loved fishing deep in his heart. He would
draw our attention to him because of his talent with fishing. He would tell
us if a lure is a good one for fishing or not. He has a master talent in fishing because he knows fishing deep down in his heart. He would always

since childhood as the partner for two years. We all will miss him and will never forget his name forever in our heart.
by Jesse Brown
“We lost our best younger deaf fisherman.”
I am glad that I met Robert Odom because I enjoyed to have company with him. He was a great fisherman. It is not
the same when we have deaf tournament bass without him. I have wonderful news for you because he told me at the
Lake Berryessa that he believed in our Lord Jesus! We will see him someday. Amen. He probably be riding on 100 lbs.
largemouth in the Heaven. (grin) We will miss him by Richard Bean
“Recalling”
I remember recalling how I met Robert when I heard the news..So it's somewhere where I put it. I'll find it. Well that's
sad. I remember meeting Robert first time during Red Man Tourney. Later became Wal Mart Bass Fishing League
(BFL). When he met me, he was glad that I was able to help out to interpret for him to find him partner, who he goes
fishing with as a non boater back then. He will be missed! by Jimmie Boyd
“Great bass angler!”
I was a partner with Robert for CDBC’s first deaf bass tournament at Don Pedro Lake in 2003. I enjoyed with Robert
catch lots of bass then his. But lots of small bass to release in water. I miss him! I pray for Robert in heaven. by Keith
Brown
“A good amount of time together”
I am shocked & appalled that this has been the outcome of Bobby's
fate. I have known Bobby for 8 years; he was a member of
N.C.A.C.C.D. where he enjoyed fishing Black Bass at Lake Berryessa
in our annual tournaments. Over the years, I've fished with him on my
boat on 3 occasions. He had taught me many things related to fishing.
He was an avid lover of the fishing sport.
Most recently, in April 2004 at Lake Berryessa he was my team partner. We won 2nd place together as a team. We were very close to
bring in 1st place and were only separate by 1.6 oz in weight of fish.
We talked about being team partner again in 2005. Sad for me, but we
have had a good amount of time together.
I tip my hat to Bobby. He will always be in the bottom of my heart.
God bless him. by Dave "Basshead" Ford
“He is closer my bassmaster level”
I can’t believed Robert Odom Jr. is gone in god heaven for his younger age. One night of Friday on 1996. I remembered him when I saw Robert’s family arrived and set up their camping near our campground at Lake Berryessa. First time
I don’t know who they are? Next day after tournament I met Robert’s family. First time I though He is too young to attend.
I just found out. He is adult what he told me that he has multi disabilities. But he looked improve better so much last year,
after he has few surgeries. We has great chat since we met. He is really very nice basser! We always exchanged our secret
bass fishing techniques about any lakes. Also he talked lot of fishing in god!

Castaic Lake’s Highlight ...
Bean Won FIRST Major Deaf Bass Tournament Champ
at Castaic Lake!!
Reported by Richard Bean / Club
ake Castaic is located 45 miles north of
Los Angeles. Lake Castaic consists of
approx. 2,230 surface acres at capacity.
It rests at an elevation of 1,500 feet and is surrounded by the Castaic Lake State Recreation
area, where four giant bass over 20 lbs. have
been caught here, include the California’s state
record stand 22.01 lbs. giant largemouth bass!
California Deaf Bassmasters Club hosted
2nd annual deaf bass fishing tournament at
Castaic Lake in Southern Section on Sept 18,
2004. The weather was perfect with sunny
warmer but sometime too windy!
For the last two weeks, Department of Fish
and Game agent poured “bluestoned” to kill all
hybrid weed beds. The weeds break out
spread over the waters and coves with full of

bass attacked shads in deep some coves. The school of striper bass boiled
in middle waters of main to attacked school of shads.
Richard Bean of Bakersfield won FIRST major deaf bass tournament with
only one bass weighed 2.57 and 17.5" length. Also he won lunker award
too!.Only other three anglers catch one fish each out of 13 anglers.
Some bass anglers said, month of September is rough bass fishing. But
CDBC decided to change the month to October, hopefully better bass fishing
than September.
Richard said, “John Mello and I were partners on the Castaic Lake for
deaf bass tournament. We had meeting on Friday night.” Richard learned
that some guys did catch nice size bass before they started on Saturday
morning in blast!!. Richard was wondering how they did do that because
Richard was there last week for practice but they did not catch any fish or
Otto won 2nd place awarded by Scott.
they did not bite any of my lures at all.Anyway, they were fishing all morning,
none of them catch any fish or they bite it because of windy. They had to
control the rental boat but one time John claimed me that he missed strike
after he felt bite. It made them work harder to fishing until around 12:30p.m.
They kind of gave up and started trolling with electric motor. They used the
rap lures. But spotted the boater with a mother, and 2 small kids flagged us,
they went to them and the lady asked, if they could help them tow it to the
west ramp. Richard said, ok but, we explained them that we were on tournament so Richard circled away their boat because Richard was hoping
that he could get help by flagging down lifeguard or police boat who can
help them but could not find them. So they decided to help the lady tow with
rental boat. They tied up with the ski rope and the kids started tears and
happy. Richard was about to start the motor and ready to tow it for them but
Ronald won 3rd place awarded by Scott. suddenly they waved other ski boat, they asked them if they could help
them, they accepted it, Richard guessed they rather have strong boat which
pull better than rental boat with 6 horsepower engine ?? They released the rope and started to fishing again, shortly 30
minutes later, Richard used the shad rap lure (not trolling). he caught a 2.57 lbs. bass at 2 o clock p.m.. This bass did
not fight great! It seem me real real lazy bass! Perhaps, our Lord Jesus granted him to have this bass

CDBC’s Meeting/Bass
Fishing at Castaic Lake.
Reported by Boards
n February 28, 2004, CDBC will be have bass fishing
practice at Castaic Lake from sunrise to 2 or 3 PM and
will have meeting afterwards at ramp parking area if
weather permits. If there is bad weather, the meeting
will be at Mc Donald's on the corner of Lake Hughes
Rd & Castaic Rd. We will discuss various businesses.
We hopeful the good weather. We will meet at main
ramp’s parking to set up our boats to ready. we talked
so exciting about bass fishing at Castaic Lake’s
famous huge largemouth bass
Our California state still ranks with top 25 list of
largest largemouth bass in the world. California is
leader with 21 out of 25 on that list.
Castaic has been catches 4 bass over 20’s lbs. in
1990’s. before striper spreaded over the lake. The
Castaic Lake’s breed florida largemouth bass-growth
BIG/ FATSO FAST well!!.
There are recreation: boating, camping, fishing,
(trout, catfish, bluegill, crappie, sunfish, big Stripers up
to 40 pounds have been taken here, largemouth bass),
waterski, and jetski. There are some nice picnic areas.
The surface area of the lake is approx.. 2,300 acres,
45 miles of shoreline. Deep coves give this lake lots of
shoreline, mostly accessible only by boat. It is also
quite deep, over 300 feet in some spots. This place is
unique because there are very few lakes in S.
California. that you can go to and catch Stripers and
