Islamic Banking evolved in order to create an alternative financial system to conventional banking. Islamic Banking is an ethical and equitable mode of finance. Islamic Banking has a similar purpose to ethical banking but operates in accordance with the rules of Islamic law (Shariah). The basic principle of Shariah is the sharing of profit and loss and the prohibition of riba (interest).
