 FireFit for PTSD Treatment Charity Challenge: Saturday, May 23 @ 3PM On May 23-­‐24, 2015 FireFit is coming to Vancouver, hosted by the Vancouver Firefighters’ Charitable Society (VFCS). FireFit is a unique fitness competition that tests the extreme physical abilities of Firefighters and Fire Academy Graduates. Sixteen teams of four Fire Academy Graduates will compete in the highly challenging course. Each team will be using the CHIMP donations platform to raise funds in support of a specialized program to treat PTSD in First Responders, and you can ‘back’ them in their efforts to win. Here’s how! Moving forward: The VFCS will be hosting the BC Regional FireFit Competition for the next two years, after which the nationally televised National Competition will also take place in Vancouver. The FireFit brand in association with the VFCS will build in profile over the coming years as the event continues to support the ongoing PTSD program. FireFit BC Regional Competition 2-­‐Day Event Info Event: Saturday, May 23 to Sunday May 24, 2015 @ 11AM-­‐3PM Entry: By donation Parking: On-­‐site, by donation Festivities: Concessions, daily 50/50 raffle, beer garden, Fire Fighter and Fire Equipment Presence Description: FireFit is the Fire Fighters' sport, centered around the Combat Challenge; accepted universally as the fitness test for Fire Fighters. In this timed competition, Fire Fighters ascend four flights of stairs, raise a heavy load by rope, descend the stairs and then simulate a forcible building entry with sledgehammer. Then they drag a live hose, spray a target, and finish by dragging a heavy mannequin to the finish line. Competition is fierce and Fire Fighters train year round to prepare!
