The seminal No-Wave band Teenage and Jesus and The Jerks were lead by primal screamer and guitarist Lydia Lunch, an individual who has
fought her artistic way through the decades, always true to her own vision and always brutally honest. In early 1978, artist and producer Brian
Eno attended a series of shows put on to benefit the Artist’s Space in Soho and influenced Island Records to finance an anthology LP featuring
the four strongest bands- Teenage Jesus and the Jerks, The Contortions, Mars and DNA. The resulting recording, entitled No New York and
produced by Eno, remains as one of the most impressive — and extraordinarily bold — debuts of the time. Here we compiled all Teenage Jesus
and The Jerks recordings, alongside some NEVER previously released Live material. Simultaneous to Teenage Jesus, Lunch formed Beirut
Slump, released one single and recorded an album’s worth of material, which is also included on this remarkable release.
The No-Wave scene is back in the limelight via a book about the subject by Thurston Moore someone who has always cited Teenage Jesus and
the rest of the No Wave renegades as a major influence on Sonic Youth. He is also taking up the bass duties for the one off Teenage Jesus gig
in New York, a gig which has already amounted a great deal of press interest. It is bound to be the gig to have seen in 2008.

The album and its single, ‘You Must Be a Witch,’ are period classics and still prized by collectors, though neither made the charts. The band
opened for stars such as Janis Joplin and The Doors, and appeared in the biker movie Angels from Hell.
They were to regroup as The Weeds once out of “Lord” Tim’s clutches, and Fred Cole was to lead cult band Dead Moon. But it is for this, the
classic Just Colour, that The Lollipop Shoppe are justly acclaimed.

Quintessence came from the Ladbroke Grove scene of the late 1960’s. A group of musicians who became darlings of the hippy scene and the
underground press along with contemporaries HAWKWIND. Quintessence played a freaky form of rock music that embraced Indian music,
psychedelia and jazz. They came to public attention in 1969 when they signed to Island records, for whom they recorded three classic albums.
In 1971 they signed to RCA records, recording this classic album as their debut for the label. Comprising studio tracks and a live recording from
Exeter University, “Self” was a classic of the “underground”. This Esoteric Recordings reissue has been re-mastered from the original master

For nearly forty years LOUDON WAINWRIGHT III has been one of America’s most cherished
music icons. His legendary wit and satirical genius have expanded his cultural reach from
troubadour to silver screen regular. With his new album Recovery he reaches back into the
past and profoundly reclaims many of his most classic songs. Produced by Joe Henry, the
project came about while the two were digging through some of Loudon’s older albums. After
listening, Loudon and Joe saw that the quality and breadth of the tunes were undiminished
and decided to rework the songs a team of studio heavyweights to add color to the previously
spare material.
On Recovery, classics like ‘School Days,’ ‘The Man Who Couldn’t Cry’ and ‘Motel Blues’
are fully flowered by veterans Greg Leisz, Patrick Warren, David Piltch and Jay
Bellerose. A rare document of the changes nearly four decades can bring, Recovery
reinterprets songs Loudon first composed and performed in his early twenties. The album
follows Loudon’s last release, Strange Weirdos: Music from and Inspired by the Film Knocked
Up into one of the most unique catalogs in American music history.

The Stand Ins was recorded in Austin and produced by longtime collaborator Brian Beattie
and Okkervil River. The album features 11 songs and includes the track Lost Coastlines,
on which Sheff and recently departed Jonathan Meiburg of Shearwater share a duet
on the joys and hardships of trying to keep the band together. Of the process Will Sheff
explains, “We had so many songs we were excited about that we briefly threw around the idea
of just putting out a double record. Instead, we decided to take a group of songs that fit with
each other and turn that into The Stage Names, setting the rest aside for a future release, a
The Stage Names sequel.”
The Stand Ins is that sequel, part two of a staggered double album. Like artist
William Schaff ’s embroidered artwork, which depicts what’s happening underneath The Stage Names’ front-cover quicksand hand, The Stand Ins picks up

K is proud to announce the release of Kimya Dawson’s new studio album, Alphabutt. Set
for a September 15th release, Alphabutt is a collection of children’s songs written by Dawson
along with a number of her musical friends and their children. Hailed by the likes of Rolling
Stone, NPR, Blender and Pitchfork, as a seriously talented wordsmith, Dawson successfully
leads a group of children in this sunny and energetic batch of songs with plenty of fun in the
form of snapping fingers, clapping hands and stamping feet. Alphabutt follows up the highly
successful soundtrack, JUNO, which featured many of Dawson’s songs.
Like Dawson’s previous releases, Alphabutt, succeeds by being tender and vulnerable, silly
and raw while maintaining the intimacy and sense of community that has become so special
to both fans and critics. Clocking in at 27 minutes, Alphabutt effortlessly showcases Dawson’s
powerful talent for storytelling.

4TH MASTERPIECE OF MELODIC DEATH METAL FROM FINLANDS OMNIUM GATHERUM Omnium Gatherums 4th album “The Redshift” was nailed and furled at Sound Supreme &
SouthEastSounds Studios during the spring days of 2008 and it was mixed and mastered
at Unisound Studio in Sweden by the legendary metal-mastermind Dan Swano, who
commented the album with his nice words: “I hate bands like Omnium Gatherum, They are
so good it pisses me off!!! Their fine blend of melody and aggression is so good I actually
thought about stealing the record and release it as my own :) You wont find a better album
in years.” “The Redshift” really introduces the camp OG in its very strongest form to date!
The album is full of contrasts; melodic but yet brutal, lots of changing atmospheres, moods
from sorrow to joy and from hope to despair, very catchy but still stand outs lots of listening
and sands of time - An OG milestone, a classic! ...And its all about riding the red shift! The
Redshift riders can be seen touring in Europe with Nile & Grave in autumn 2008.

Furr is the fourth record by Portland sextet Blitzen Trapper and the follow-up to last
year’s highly acclaimed Wild Mountain Nation. Written in the gaps of the group’s frenetic touring schedule and recorded mostly in a hoary old telegraph building close by the Willamette
River, the new record refines and expands on the far-ranging yet distinctive songcraft that
lies at the heart of Blitzen Trapper’s unique appeal.

One key to this new material was an ancient, warped piano that appeared in the hallway one
day at Sally Mack’s School of Dance and which was subsequently muscled into the group’s
studio. Though out of tune and missing teeth, this piano became the warhorse upon which
Earley wrote and recorded much of Furr. The beast has gone away to the landfill now, but
you can still hear the clacking and clattering of its rickety skeleton in songs like Not Your
Lover and Echo.
Blitzen Trapper is a group of native Northwesterners, most of whom grew up in Salem,
Oregon. They have lived and played together in Portland since 2000. Critics and fans have
compared their music to just about everything; there have been calls to coin a new genre.
After self-releasing Wild Mountain Nation in June of 2007, the group ventured beyond the
West Coast for the first time to tour extensively in Europe and North America. Furr is their
first Sub Pop release.
