Following the Fall Colors
The scenery became more and more
breathtaking as the couple drove north
for a week of following fall colors. Neither of them could remember seeing such
vivid colors.
As cloud shadows moved across a golden field of corn, a flock of Canada geese
flew overhead as if
beckoning them to
follow.
They would reach
Rosenthal’s Resort
for a lazy stay at a
lakeside cabin just
as the sun was setting on beautiful
Webb Lake. The
resort, located near
D a n b u r y,
offers visitors not only
great scenery, but also
great dining and entertainment.
The couple’s next stop on their autumn
adventure would be in Spooner. They
couldn’t wait for their stay on the town’s
Bed and Breakfast train. It was the perfect time of year to ride the rails through
bright woods and along rushing rivers.
From Spooner, they’d travel to Rusk
County for their Leaf it to Rusk celebration, Sept. 24-25. They wanted to make
sure they experienced the wonderful view
of the Blue Hills on the chair lift rides at
Christie Mountain and stay in their on-site
cabin. What a fine way to end their northern Wisconsin trip.
More info on these northwestern Wisconsin accommodations can be found
at www.rosenthalsresort.com, www.
spoonertrainride.com and www.christiemountain.com. For a Wisconsin fall
color report, go to www.travelwisconsin.
com/fallcolor.
Driving home they watched the colors
passing by, wondering where the week
had gone, they started planning another
trip of “following fall colors” before autumn’s end.

Back for more Flourishing Fall Fests
It was almost time for these fun-loving
women to be back on the road to northwest Wisconsin for more flourishing fall
fests. They’d start in Amery (Sept. 16-18)
for that town’s fun fall fest with a carnival,
craft and fine arts fairs, pie baking contest, live music tent, parade, food stands,
lumberjack show, pancake breakfast and
Apple River Quilt Show.
Barronett’s Colorfest Fall Festival (Sept. 16-18) was next with its craft
fair, food and music, and then it was off
to Grantsburg for the town’s very own
Grantoberfest celebration (Sept. 17) with
hayrides, wiener dog races, lots of food
and live music all day.
Sunday, they’d drive to the Château St.
Croix to spend the afternoon at this quaint
St. Croix Valley winery’s annual fall event
(Sept. 17-18). They’d tour the winery and
vineyard, and browse the arts, crafts and
food booths. After they all tried their feet
at the grape stomping contest, they’d sit
on the patio, sampling wine and
listening to live music.
More info on the fall fests described above can be found at:

These and other later September fall fests flourishing
in Northwestern Wisconsin
can also be found at www.
travelwisconsin.com and www.wiscon-
sinvisitor.com.
There were still so many more September Fall Fests ahead for this foursome.
They’d be back the weekend of September
23-25 for these flourishing festivals: Siren’s
Harvestfest (www.
visitsiren.com), Cable’s Fall Fest (www.
wisconsinfallfests),
Leaf it to Rusk (www.

Plenty of Awesome Art at Cornucopia Art Crawl
An art crawl in a town
named Cornucopia would
surely be the place to shop
for plenty of awesome art
and see some awesome
scenery. So she and her sister set off for some fall fun in
northwestern Wisconsin.
While among the autumn
colors, they hoped to find
some colorful original art
for their mom’s new apartment. As they
wandered the fair looking for paintings
and sculptures, the sisters would scout
out some jewelry for themselves, too.
The Cornucopia website, www.cornucopiawisconsin.net, described the Sept.
17 Art Crawl as one with a “distinctively
Northern Wisconsin twist.”
The sisters thought it was cool the art
crawl promoted Cornucopia’s and surrounding
towns’ arts community.
Described as a day
dedicated to promote the
art scene in Cornucopia,
the crawl is open to artists
from Cornucopia, Herbster and Port Wing area
or who currently exhibit
their work in a Cornucopia business or gallery. Participating businesses and other designated fair areas set
up under canopies will feature the work
of some of the finest of Superior’s South
Shore artists.
Visitors can pick up an art crawl map
on arrival (or download one from the
website) and then walk the town, stopping to watch demonstrations, buy pieces
of art, or purchase other goods or services
the sponsoring businesses have to offer.
They decided to take a few extra days for
fall walks on the trails leading to the area’s
two separate waterfalls and the miles of
beautiful, sandy beaches of Lake Superior. They couldn’t wait to see the beautiful
Chequamegon National Forest and wanted to try kayaking to see the spectacular
sea caves, beautiful sandstone formations
carved away by
the incredible
force of Lake
Superior.
Cornucopia’s Art Crawl
would be an
awesome scene
for these sisters
this September.
Autumn Get-Away at Area’s Cool Casinos
The crisp, autumn air said sweater
weather, so she packed two and headed
out to meet her college friends for some
fall gaming in northwestern Wisconsin casinos.
After a great lunch at St. Croix Casino
in Turtle Lake and finding new games to
play there, they headed north to more cool
casinos.
They made a quick shopping stop in
Hayward with its interesting stores filled
with souvenirs, crafts, art, wine and more
before it was off for a few hours of games
at LCO Casino.
Back in the car, they were on their way
towards Ashland to check out Bad River
Lodge & Casino in Odanah for more gaming before heading to Red Cliff and the
new Legendary Waters Casino.
They had reserved a suite early since
there are only 47 exclusive rooms and
suites, each with a view of the Apostle
Islands National Lakeshore.
Some of her friends would play a few
rounds at nearby Apostle Highlands Golf
T HE
Course, nestled in over 250 acres of wood-
lands and sitting
500 ft. above the
town of Bayfield,
with a magnificent
view of the world’s
largest freshwater lake, Chequamegon
Bay, and Madeline Island.
Other friends would go right for the
new casino to play all the new games,
plus explore and enjoy its amenities, like
the casino’s windows with spectacular
views of the lake.
They’d meet for a buffet dinner. Afterwards, it was time to go back to their suite
to sit and chat on the balcony or cozy up
by the fireplace.
The next day, they would head into
town for more shopping and lunch at Bayfield’s quaint shops and restaurants.
They packed up for their last overnight
stop at St. Croix Casino in Danbury.
When they saw the two-story suite with
winding
staircase
and full kitchen,
they knew it would
be a great place to
relax, have snacks
and watch the game
before going down
to the casino to try
their luck.
For their next get-together, they’ll book
overnights at Turtle Lake, Bad River and
LCO casinos. To plan your gaming fun,
visit www.stcroixcasino.com, www.lcocasino.com, www.badriver.com, www.
legendarywaters.com.
Headed home, they all agreed it had been
a really cool autumn casino get-away.
