What is 123 Ninja
123 Ninja is designed like fruit
ninja, but instead of fruit you slice
numbers 1-100. The app will record
your voice, which is great for ESL
students. The app counts in
numeric order or will randomize the
numbers on the screen. The best
part is that the app allows you the
opportunity to make it easy,
medium, or hard, as well as turn off
groups of numbers.
Integrations Ideas
• Centers with other material such
a 100’s chart. Another student
crosses off the number as
another student slices it
• Individual Student Practice

device every minute

Task #1 Center or Small Groups ( 4 Students)
•Open 123 Ninja App on 2 devices
•Pass out the 100’s chart so students can write on it… via
paper, open it on the iPad in Doodle Buddy, laminate and
use them with dry erase markers.
•Set the 123 Ninja App for that students ability by going to
the settings wheel, then changing what is being taught.
• Assessment Tool - Watch and
listen as the student slices the
numbers, teacher checks off that
number as mastered
•Let student start playing the app.
• Have a student record
themselves saying the number
and let another student do the
game - Done inside the app
•Student on the paper version will hear the number as well
and he/she will cross the number off of their 100’s chart.

•When the number comes up, it states the number out loud.
The student on the iPad slices it with his/her finger.
•Then rotate tasks when the time is up.

Teacher Notes
• Each individual iPad can be
set up differently based on
the students ability.
• You can choose from dots
1-9, numbers by groups of 10
all the way to 99.
• Each number can be read
aloud recording yours or a
students voice saying the
number.
• Change the length of a game
from 1:00, 2:00, 3:00, 5:00,
10:00. This will be how long a
student will play one round.
• Game difficulty equals how
many numbers appear and
how fast they disappear on
the screen.
• Random Playback will
completely randomize the
groups of numbers you have
turned on.
