Friday 13th June, 2014
From the Headmaster
Flying rockets, dirty toenails, cavorting children, rocks, giant cockroaches, chlorine and ‘onesies’ were the theme
this week @Fairfield!
Another action packed week has yet again passed us by at the rate of knots. In looking at the 18 (yes 18) school days
left of the Summer term, there is still an incredible amount of fun and excitement left before the bell rings for the
last time at 3.40pm on Wednesday 9th July.
I do hope that you will be able to join us for the Pre Prep and Upper Prep Sports Days as well as the many varied
events in the forthcoming weeks which are listed in the school calendar.
As the 2014 FIFA World Cup kicked off yesterday, the PTA would like to get into the spirit of the occasion by
organising a mini 5-a-side tournament during our ‘Family Fun Day’ on Sunday, 6th July at the LGS
playing fields at Quorn.
The proposal is that each class at Fairfield can enter a team on the day, with the expectation that each team will be
made up of at least 6 parents.
If you feel you are able to participate/organise your child’s class team, then please email [email protected] by
27th June to register your interest.
A decision will be made on 30th June as to whether or not the 5-a-side tournament can go ahead,
which will be communicated via Parentmail.
And finally…
 As promised, details relating to the New Build project can be found by accessing the following link:
http://www.lesfairfield.org/links/
 We are currently advertising for two part time School Nurses. If you know anyone who may be

On Tuesday, Year 2 enjoyed a
wonderful day at Conkers
where we all managed to read
a map successfully to complete
the orienteering course and
had a fantastic time on the bare
foot trail! The sun shone on us
all day and for many it was
their ‘best trip ever!’

This is a perfect opportunity for Year 2 children to get a booster before they start swimming in Year 3. To book a place
or for more information please see Mrs Must in RCW.
If your child currently attends After School Club and you intend to collect your child at the end of the Pre
Prep Sports Day, please could inform Mrs Willingham on [email protected] Please note due to

A very big thank you to everyone for their support today. What an amazing sight on the playground. Apart
from an apparent increase in endangered species there was the most incredible selection of all of our favourite
story book animals. The sun shone and there were smiles everywhere. It looked like a very happy day at school
and a great way to raise money for the WWF. Thank you we raised £865. Mrs Holmes.
On Wednesday Reception treated the Pre Preps and their parents to a dance extravaganza! Dressed to
impress we were thrilled with dances and movers and groovers.
It was very evident to the audience what a great time all the children had, had in performing and the
energy and enthusiasm of the children was wonderful to see. A huge thank you must go to the Reception
team in preparing the children.

The Brownies had a busy weekend celebrating the ‘Big
Brownie Stay Away,’ as part of a Nationwide scheme to get
Brownies across Britain sleeping out to celebrate 100 years of
Brownies. The pack spent Saturday night at Twin Lakes,
sharing two enormous marquees with 400 other Brownies
from across Leicestershire. Luckily, we missed the rain
showers and the weather was warm and sunny, meaning that
the girls all had a wonderful time exploring the park on
Saturday evening and all day Sunday.
