The Performing Arts Department of Mira Mesa High School is proud to bring Andrew Lloyd Webber’s mesmerizing score and tragic love story to life. The Phantom of the Opera opened at Her Majesty’s Theatre in London on September 27, 1986 with Michael Crawford and Sarah Brightman in the leading roles. It started its New York run just over a year later and remains the longest running show on Broadway. It’s also our largest production to date with over 50 actors, 30 musicians, and more than 50 crew members taking part, along with dozens of faculty and adult volunteers lending a hand. In a time where cutbacks to performing arts departments loom, it’s gratifying to see so many come together with time and talent to make this ambitious show happen. Now, join us as we go far beneath the majesty and splendor of the Paris Opera House, where the Phantom hides in a shadowy existence. Shamed by his physical appearance and feared by all, the love he holds for his beautiful protégée Christine Daaé is so strong that even her heart cannot resist.
