ChromSquare 2.2
A unified software for all kinds of comprehensive 2D
chromatography applications (GC×GC - LC×LC - LC×GC)
What is ChromSquare
ChromSquare is a user-friendly and universal software for visualizing, processing and
reporting data obtained by any comprehensive two-dimensional gas chromatographic
system: gas chromatography (GC×GC), liquid chromatographic ones (LC×LC), and
liquid-gas chromatograph (LC×GC).
It was launched in the market in 2009 and since then it has been constantly updated with
new featres. The main ones of ChromSquare 2.2 are:

Rapid processing of comprehensive raw chromatograms into 2D and 3D plots

Qualitative analysis: Direct MS library search

Quantitative analysis: Automatic construction of calibration curves

Compare/subtract samples: Two chromatograms can be superimposed or subtracted
The ChromSquare Main Window consists of 4 panels:

The upper left panel shows the
selected chromatogram zone


The lower left shows the operational
status panels

The upper right window shows the
mass spectrum of the selected com
pound
The lower right window shows the
entire chromatogram
GC and LC detectors
supported
ChromSquare allows to process data generated from
almost all GC and LC detectors.
GC detectors supported:
qMS, QqQ MS, FID, ECD, BID,
TCD, and FTD.
LC detectors supported:
qMS, QqQ MS, PDA, UV/VIS,
RID and RF.

Qualitative and Quantitative
ChromSquare can perform automatic
integration by setting basic parameters,
such as the minimum area to be considered and noise level. Whether necessary,
manual integration can be performed
selecting the blob in the 2D plot. An additional integration function is the “polygonal” function, which allows to draw in the
2D plot the area of interest and thus obtaining the area of each peak along with the
sum of all the peaks included in the polygonal area.
ChromSquare Blob integration.
Identification and Filtering
The spectral identification can be performed after the Blob integration without the use of
additional tools. Up to five libraries can be selected for the identification. Moreover,
ChromSquare software, allows the use of the Linear Retention Index (LRI) approach to
obtain more reliable identifications.
Compounds selection
Results are showed as “hit” lists in
which each compound contains the
following information: Name, CAS
number, Similarity Match, type of
search (Direct/Reverse) LRI reported
in the library and Δ LRI between
experimental and library one
The experimental mass spectrum is
reported along with the library reference spectrum and the difference
spectrum between them.

* The LRI technique is used to compare the relative retention of compounds regardless of column and laboratory. The LRI of a compound is an expression of its retention time on a gas chromatographic column relative to homologous series n-alkanes, fatty acid
methyl esters (FAMEs) or, fatty acid ethyl esters (FAEEs).

Quantitative Analysis
The software can be used to build calibration curve in a very easy way. An automated integration of a series of data analysis, performed at different concentration levels, is carried
out by the software for selected
Blobs and a regression line is calculated automatically. A dedicate
window reports information (slope,
intercept, linear correlation coefficient) related to the regression line
obtained.

Additional
Features
Wrap-around
correction
The software allows to add a
time interval to the start modulation time: in this way allo
modulations are shifted by the same
timeamount; the visual result is that the
map will appear shifted towards the top
or the bottom, thus correcting the wraparound effect.
Available visualization tools
Visualization modes
Three visualization modes are
available (linear and bi-linear
data interpolation, and smoothed bloob), including the 3D
tool for breathtaking visualization.

Compare/Subtract
Chromatograms
Using a special tool (Compare/Subtract
Chromatograms) two different chromatograms can be either superimposed and subtracted. The resulting chromatogram can be saved and processed.
Compare/substract Chromatograms tool
Compare Map Views
This additional tool allows a
direct comparison of two chromatograms, with different
visualization options.
