One Hundredth and Eighth Edition
Our next meeting is January 12th, 7 PM at Mr. D’s!
The MNDNR will be speaking on January 12th
Jeramy Pinkerton MNDNR NR Specialist- Streams and Rivers; Jeramy is now in charge of the
St. Louis River which includes all the Muskie Research. Hopefully Jeramy will have results
from the first round of Isotope samples and be able to share the results with us. Jeramy will
also have information on the young of the year Muskie sampling. I understand that the MN
Sea Grant gave the MNDNR a grant to study Muskie movement in the St. Louis River. This will
require acoustic tags to be place on some Muskie and Jeramy should have more information
on this.
MI Mission Statement
Muskies, Inc. is an active, service-oriented, non-profit organization with a single focus of
improving the sport of Muskie fishing for men, women and children.
Our mission is to unite all Muskie fishing interests for the promotion and protection of a high
quality Muskellunge sport fishery in the United States and Canada.
We will accomplish this by supporting conservation practices and research based on sound
scientific merit, and carried out by authorized federal or state agencies, appropriate academic
institutions, Muskies Inc. chapters and their members.
We are committed to the abatement of water pollution, maintenance of records for Muskie
habits, growth and range and the dissemination of Muskie information to everyone.
As you can see, our mission statement is a perfect fit for what is taking place on the river.
Working with the DNR and helping with the research is how we will help move the sport of
Muskie fishing forward, determine populations, and discover what is going on in the
estuary, what the fish are eating and track the movement of fish.
If you kept an angling diary the Fishery Committee and the DNR want the information. Please
send the diary to Woody at [email protected] so the Fishery committee can review the
information before it is turned in to the DNR.
Annual Elections
Our annual elections were held in December. Results were as follows
President – Keith Okeson
Vice-president – Curt Ellestad
Secretary – Dave Decker
Treasurer – Candy Ellestad
Chapter Representative – Terry DeMenge
We also have a new Board member at Large – Jayson Snidarich
Chapter Banquet
The chapter banquet will be February 6th this year. This will be the 20th chapter
banquet and so the banquet committee wanted to change things up a bit and
offer incentives to people to get signed up early and for selling raffle tickets.
Every month till the banquet we will offer an Early Bird package. The earlier you
buy a package the more you will get in return. We want everyone to attend and
to bring a friend with them and hope the incentives encourage you to attend.
You don’t need to buy an Early Bird package as we will still have all the games,
football boards, card games, shot shell game, dice game, silent and live auctions
and of course the wheel to spin for the general raffle tickets.

As you can see we want you to attend our Banquet this year.
The banquet committee is looking for a few more members. It is always
nice to have more people helping with the planning and we will need a
