Learn how to turn the art of watercolor into a festive and
joyous study of hues, shapes and emotional value.

Silk Painting: January 24
Create beautiful, colorful finished silk paintings by using
resist (gutta) to define the design and then blending
colorful dyes in these defined areas. Minimum of

• Health Tip: Avocados are not just for guacamole: they also contain
valuable nutrients such as folate, fiber, and potassium - supporting healthy
eyesight and a healthy immune system. Plus they have the unsaturated
fats which are vital for continuing good health.
• Chess Group: Interested in playing chess? Meet at the Senior Center to
play and socialize! If interested, please call the Malibu Senior Center to be
added to the list. If enough interest is generated we will organize a group
and set a date.
• Bingo in Malibu: Thursday nights at 6:45pm at the Point Dume Clubhouse.
This is a registered Bingo location and all money collected at the door is

Suburban Showgirl at the Malibu Playhouse

The Malibu Playhouse is offering senior center members a special deal to
attend and support your local theater! Suburban Showgirl is an inspirational
one-woman tour de force written by and starring Palmer Davis. Davis creates
the character “Wendy Walker” - wife, mother of two, and professional dancer whose life is not turning out quite the way she had hoped.

Leonis Adobe Museum

Step back in time and discover what it was like to live in the 1880’s as a wealthy
family in the rugged west. The Leonis Adobe Museum is a Monterey-Style adobe
home and working ranch, originally owned by the legendary Miguel Leonis,
once known as the King of Calabasas. The grounds feature his authentic 1844
adobe home, barn and corral with livestock, out buildings, wagons and crops. A
docent will provide a guided tour of the museum grounds and give participants
an opportunity to learn about the rich history and legacy of the Leonis family.
Participants should be prepared for walking around the outdoor ranch and a half
block to/from a nearby restaurant. Prior to visiting the museum, enjoy lunch at
the Sagebrush Cantina.

Visit Camarillo Ranch, a Historic Queen Anne Victorian Home in Ventura County.
The breathtaking Victorian house exhibits two staircases, 12-foot ceilings,
extensive interior woodwork and a generous wrap around porch. The Camarillo
House was built in 1892 by Adolfo Camarillo, who has been called “The Last
Spanish Don” and was a leader in numerous organizations in Camarillo, Ventura
County and California. The docent-led tour includes walking and some stairs to
access the second floor. After the tour enjoy the gift shop and then lunch at The
Alamo, a Mexican Restaurant in Newbury Park.

The Malibu Senior Citizens Club will have
their Holiday Party on Friday, December
13, featuring a catered and music by the
Sophisticats. All members are welcome, and
the charge for the event is $10 per person.
