Where would we be without our false lashes?! Doing your make-up for a
night out isn’t the same without adding a strip of instant glam at the end. But
now, we’re looking for something more permanent and wanting to keep the
flirty flutter up all day, every day...
The ladies at U Mag
all went under the
therapists’ lamp to get semi-
permanent false lashes applied, and
here’s how we got on…
Aisling went to Up To My Eyes in
Greystones (www.uptomyeyes.ie)
and Elaine McParland, the lash expert
out there, looked after her. The
process took about an hour and 45
minutes and Elaine warned her that
clients often fall asleep during the
treatment because it’s so relaxing. Of
course, Aisling fell asleep.
“After I woke up from my nap, I
looked in the mirror and immediately
loved the lashes. They had great curl
and were dramatic enough. I knew
I wouldn’t have to wear any eye
make-up day-to-day and they were
so long. They lasted for ages, I was
very careful and kept touching to a
minimum, and I cannot wait to get
them refilled for my holidays.”
Elaine from Up To My Eyes gives
her rule for making your lashes last:
“The golden rule for wearing
eyelash extensions is the less you
touch them, the longer they last!
They do require you to be gentle
with them and rubbing or tugging is
out. Similarly, excessive exposure to
saunas or steam weakens them as do
oil-based mascaras and eye make-up
remover.”
Mink lashes in Up To My Eyes are
€120 and are €50 to be refilled,
which is recommended to be done
after four weeks.
Jen went to the lovely Pam in The
Beauty Parlour in Terenure for hers
(www.beautyparlour.ie). They do
semi-permanent lash extensions for
€90 and the more luxurious mink
lashes for €110. Jen went for the mink
option and the process of getting
them on took just over an hour.
“Three weeks later, they’re still
on. I’ve lost some but the look is still
there. I loved them instantly and I’ll
definitely be getting them refilled! I
think I’ve developed an addiction...”
Denise had her extensions put
on in The Lash Boutique in Dalkey
(www.thelashboutique.ie), where
owner Thereasa applied a full set of

mink lashes (€100). There are many
variations on lash extension available
in The Lash Boutique depending
on the look you want, and they’re
happy to customise for your exact
requirements.
“I loved the look of the lashes
and Thereasa did an expert job of
applying them. They completely
opened up my eyes. The only thing
for me was not getting water on
them was a challenge. I like to splash
water on my face when washing it
and I missed not being able to do
that so I probably wouldn’t get them
on again. I can see how they can
become addictive though because
they look fabulous.” U
