A Mardi Gras celebration demands Mardi Gras music,
considered to be part of the rich culture of New Orleans and
its gift to the world! Come enjoy talented musicians and a
sextet of Dixieland instruments, as they present an awardwinning mix of Dixieland jazz, ragtime, and novelty tunes.
Organized in the fall of 1999, The Bourbon Street
Stompers do all their own vocals—and
are all experienced musicians from
Southeastern Wisconsin.

Life-saving
TAVR is now available at ProHealth
Waukesha Memorial Hospital
Aortic stenosis is a progressive heart disorder that
affects nearly seven percent of adults over age 65.
It causes narrowing of the heart’s aortic valve and
restricts blood flow to the body. Symptoms may
include fatigue, shortness of breath, lightheadedness,
rapid or irregular heartbeat, and chest pain.
Individuals with severe stenosis have only a 50 percent
chance of living two years. The only effective treatment
is aortic valve replacement. However, some patients
with this condition are too weak to undergo traditional
surgery.
Transcatheter Aortic Valve Replacement (TAVR) provides
new hope for a longer life and a higher quality of life.
During a minimally invasive TAVR
procedure, a physician threads a
catheter through an artery and uses
it to position a new, collapsible heart
valve inside the damaged valve.
The team from ProHealth Heart & Vascular Care is one
of only a few in Wisconsin to offer TAVR, and it is the
first in southeastern Wisconsin to use SAPIEN 3, the
latest generation heart valve.
Advantages of TAVR and the SAPIEN 3
“There are better outcomes, there is a lower risk of
stroke, and the catheter is smaller so it can be used
on a wider range of patients,” explained interventional
cardiologist Lisa Schmitz, DO. “And recovery is easier
than with open heart surgery because the chest
doesn’t have to be opened.”
ProHealth Care’s TAVR team includes interventional
cardiologists, cardiothoracic surgeons,
anesthesiologists, imaging specialists and cath lab and
operating room staff. Dr. Schmitz works collaboratively
with John Kelemen, MD, and Mark Stout, MD –
cardiothoracic surgeons practicing at Waukesha
Memorial as part of ProHealth Care’s partnership with
Indiana University Health – to determine whether an
individual is a candidate for TAVR.
To learn more about TAVR, call 262-928-5300
or visit ProHealthCare.org/TAVR.

Many of us long to go back to a time when things seemed simpler. In this
fictional tale, the author is abruptly thrust back to 1960, arriving in his
childhood neighborhood of Brooklyn at his current age of 64. He is faced
with numerous internal struggles as he confronts his past life. Now, he is an
outsider desperately seeking to reconcile his compelling need to return to
this bygone era, with everyday reality. As events progress, you and the author arrive at a
stunning climax. Rooted in Mr. Sponcia’s own childhood experience and nostalgia for the 1960s,
the author will read passages from his book and share his thoughts during this compelling
presentation. All proceeds from his book are donated to the Wounded Warrior Project, an
organization that supports wounded veterans and their families.

The musical version baby boomers know and love most made its Broadway debut in 1954 with
Mary Martin as Peter Pan, the boy who wouldn’t grow up—based on J.M. Barrie’s classic tale.
The Mary Martin version was telecast on NBC in 1955, 1956, and 1960, and Mary won an Emmy
for her 1955 live performance.
Now the Fireside presents, for the very first time, a sumptuous new production of this timeless musical. See the familiar dancing pirates, Indians, Lost Boys, Tinkerbell, and Peter Pan and
enjoy the beloved songs: “I Won’t Grow Up,” “Never Never Land,” and “I’m Flying.” This Tony
award-winning musical will delight you all over again.
