New for CFC this year — online pledging for Chicago postal employees! Just go to www.chicagocfc.net and click the “Pledge Online” button. Of course, keyworkers will still be coming around with agency booklets and paper pledge forms. October 17, 2011 “I don’t think you ever stop giving. I really don’t. I think it’s an on-going process. And it’s not just about being able to write a check. It’s being able to touch somebody’s life.” — Oprah Winfrey Executive POOM Donald Nichols smiles as the district dedicates the 34th Black Heritage stamp, former Congresswoman Barbara Jordan, at the annual Chicago Read-In October 8 at the DuSable Museum of African-American History. Turn your pledge in before Thanksgiving, and you’ll be eligible to win one of these great prizes in the CFC Early Bird Drawing. Winners will be pulled December 5. CFC Celebrates 50 Years of Giving & Caring T Last year, federal employees raised more than $281.5 million, with the Chicago District contributing $407,708. With unemployment at 9%, foreclosures up 7% since February, and homelessness on a steady rise, the CFC objective of “connecting those who give with those who need” is especially urgent. “As the economy worsens, the need for givers increases,” said CFC director Eriabee Chiles. “The challenge is to have those with means to think of those without. Postal Service employees have always stepped up to the plate and considered those less fortunate than they are, I don’t expect they’ll be any different this year.” 2011 Chicago District campaign executives Yvette Blanks and Roz Solomon will be busy working with local coordinators to collect pledges through the end of December. Be sure to get your donations in early — there is an early-bird incentive for pledges received before Thanksgiving. You could win an iPad 2, a pair of Blackhawks tickets or a 4GB Xbox 360 with Kinect in plenty of time for the holidays! he season of charitable giving, known to Postal Service and federal employees as the Combined Federal Campaign (CFC), is officially underway. This year, CFC celebrates its 50th year anniversary, hence the theme “50 Years of Caring.” CFC is the largest, most successful and only authorized solicitation of Federal employees in the workplace. Giving to your favorite charity or organization through CFC is easier than ever this year. In addition to making your donation using a paper pledge card, you can also give securely online through Chicago CFC Nexus at www.chicagocfc.net. Service Performance Scores Week 1 (October 1 – October 7) After last Friday’s All-City Meeting at Cardiss Collins, station managers made arrangements to have postcards delivered to their units.
